I intend to redo the MK II and MK III 14" turrets for the KGV class, because I've realized that the current parts have the correct outline but pants shading.
after you wrote that, I had to have an look. And I can already see that I forgot a dark grey line aft on the turret, and that I have been a bit soft on the shading... and that is before I have a look at reference materials.

What I could find on my computer.

How about this?

To be honest, for my eye it seems to be a bit overshaded in sb-scale :?:

four colors and dark grey. I think that is just within the limits.

Yeah, Ideally I would have used five, but figured that was going overboard. But two colors for the sides would give you a hilarious oversimplification for the shape of the turret.

I used four colors to shade my version of the 9.2" gun house used on the DofEs, but got a whitering criticism for that. So, while Miho's turrets do look very cool and appropriate, one may wonder about double standards...

Well, we can allways use three colours:

Oh, and while we're on the subject of turrets...

Sorry for coming into this discussion late, been busy all week.

I prefer the three-shade, it works just as well and might allow better recolouring later on (camo schemes etc.). That is the main objection to too many shades. What does the reverse shading look like (aft facing turret)? This is another important consideration too.
I wonder if the double-black line at the front base might be better being v. dark grey and black?

I'd love to see the 16in updated too with similar styling.

The double black line in front is actually because there's a slightly raised armor plate there. It's one of the reasons the vertical face armor didn't save as much weight as originally thought when applied to larger turrets. there needed to be a measure of protection where the barbette came out from under the turret.

I took the liberty of also doing the 16" turret in this style, and placed all renovated turrets onto the weapons sheet, so you won't have to.

Also, the face plate of the 6" turrets was angled way too far backwards.
