Ok Ari, using the plan supplied by Paul541 on this page http://www.shipbucket.com/forums/viewto ... 5&start=20 I have altered the stern to the same angles. I am not sure if it is a correct plan but the ones I saw on the net all looked similar.

may I suggest to use the lineplan on that drawing to accurately shape the stern to an shape that is IMO none better then the previous one?

I have now completely replaced the lower hull to the same as Mihoshik has used on his drawings.

I will second ace on his suggestion (without having seen the plan, trusting ace's judgment here.) As for your latest one, the only objection I have so far is the shape of the stern just above the rudder post, which, if imagined to follow through all the way down to the sternpost or or Point of Perpendicular, will not meet it in a smooth, unbroken fashion. (I. e. the flat section is way, way too long!)

...oh, and seeing that plan, ace is completely right! I strongly suggest you study the lines of that underwater hull, since yours is still not the same, and, certainly not nearly as elegant! But, a few careful tweaks, and you'll get there! Afterall, I had to redo the entire underwater hull of my Duke of Edinburgh-class, and I've done that on the German Type 101s as well, so am no stranger to that happening!

Nice thread you've got here Krakatoa :D A tiny remark: The HMS Hood badge (on pp. 13, 17, 18 & 19) is drawn by me ;)

Thanks for the remarks guys.

My apologies Kim, I have no idea where the credits got to. I have altered the drawings that I have on my Dropbox. The other missing credits are on Mihoshiks drawings, so hopefully he will notice your comment and update his drawings.

Yes Kim, I have had a lot of fun with this thread. Dreaming up plausible, and some not so plausible drawings. It is all good fun.

This is a strange one for me. Implementing a form of homing/acoustic torpedo that can be used in both an ASW and Surface Warfare situation. It is a rocket assisted projectile, and that is one of my contentious issues. How far should the RAP section work for?

The problems I have to solve are the ASDIC/SONAR detection distance in 1945. Reading on ASDIC detection distance gives me a confident detection distance of about 1500 yards in 1945. Which has to reduce to about 200-250 yards for Hedgehog or 275 yards for Squid to be effective. At 10-15 knots that is a long time between detection and firing.

If on detection at 1200-1500 yards the RAP Torpedo is fired, then my question is how far should the torpedo be airborne for before it enters the water and goes active? The torpedo can be set for various speeds and ranges, which would depend on the target. It will have to be able to operate at variable depths if it is to chase U-Boats to 600-700 foot depths, or hit a ship with a draught of 10-30 feet.

The HMS Dragon above has 4x4.5", 4x40mm STAAG, 3x40mm Boffin, 1 x triple Squid, 3 x Triple 21" RAP launchers, 1 fixed, 2 swivel mountings.

Any questions / comments that can help me work out how to make this work would be appreciated.

I'm no expert on rocketry, but it might be pushing state of the art. In 1945 Britain only really had cordite 3in diameter rocket motors. A larger 5in rocket had several strapped together.
The main problem is getting all to fire to maintain a straight trajectory. Mind you if can get hold of some German tech in late 45 it could be feasible with some more robust liquid set up.
