The article describes a supposed Chinese Super-Boomer powered by Electromagnetic drive (i.e. Magneto-Hydrodynamic Drive such as that popularized in Tom Clancy's 'The Hunt for Red October')

Whilst the artist images of the sub look incredible and plausible, I'm fairly dubious about its reality - for two reasons; Firstly - MHD is supposed to be completely impractical and far from noise-free (it also creates one heck of a magnetic signature which would be a dead give-away). Secondly - US intelligence supposedly has no idea about it existing, and has somehow missed the Chinese building secret underground tunnels for the boats to harbor in! Yeah right... China can't have forgotten than the USA's National Reconnaissance Office deploys the 'lacrosse' Ground-penetrating radar satellites?? And the CIA is bigger and badder than ever, and "pivoting" east, along with the rest of the USA's global military strategy. Not convinced.

Interested in other people's thoughts.
