I like it. I think 4x1 20mm for 2x1 40mm would be a decent trade off.

One for the traditionalists, Argonaut with standard AA battery for 1939-40 ships. 8x2pd (2x4) 8x20mm (4x2), more single 20mm are added 1940-41.

I think that works out as a much more balanced outfit. My final concern is, could you not use a trawler style forecastle rather than the raised one you currently have? Something about it just doesn't seem... Right.

I think that you're spot on now for what she is.

It is while I was researching the V&W class variations that I ran across the HMS Wallace WAIR conversion that I have added to the RL Thread.

These were the V&W variations I could identify. Portsmouth Bill did a very good job on them, I have updated the weapons with the new parts available and added a couple of new variations to the ones he had already done.

The best of the V&W ships started going through the WAIR conversion in 1937 to supplement the Sloops and Hunts that were being built during the same period. The conversions stopped on the outbreak of war. The conversions to long range escorts could only be done to those units that had the small boiler room forward. The others left were termed the 'Short Range' escorts.

Having done the RL Wallace I have done a rework of the Shakespeare type. I have armed it the same as some of the Hunt class, which are 30-40 feet shorter. Armament 6x4", 4x2pd, 6x20mm, 3x21" TT.

These would certainly prove useful in the Mediterranean and around the coasts of Britain.
