I don't think it will be fit for anything else but that, by looking at its armament. A Combatante I FAC can inflict more damage than this entire ship.
I find that statement misdirects from the mission that these ships have. These ships have range and an hanger, these two things give them more presence than any FAC, and darn close to the current load out of a Perry (this is not saying that a Perry is a gold standard for frigates, but I sincerely think you are selling these ships short), and just as capable of longer range blue-water operations.

The major question I would have with this ship is it's material condition.

Nice drawing , of a very poor armed ship, in her days as a ship of the Royal Navy it was a very nice looking ship. now its a real big oversized patrol boat.

@vossiej: indeed no torpedo tubes are placed on board.

MC, are you absolutely sure about the TT:s, since I've got pictures which seems to refute your claim. Now, I'm not saying that the RF might not have been w/o TT:s but today it appears that they have. I'm including the following pictures to prove my point or provide a further discussion of this topic. It is of the sister Regina Maria (ex-London), I do not know for sure the year, but I believe it is no earlier that 2005/2006. These pictures clearly show the characteristic triple tubed weapon exactly where it is supposed to be! - Or, am I wrong? Can, in such case, someone more informed explain what those structures are? Anyway, here are the pics:

Nope you are right, then i guess
F-222 does have her torpedo tubes
F-221 does not her have torpedo tubes.

would be nice if romania will upgrade these two ships with soms CIWS (RAM/Phalanx) and a 25/30 mm Gun system.

Here, I believe the simplest solution will be to just also post the consort! That way noone is wrong and everybody's right! Now, I don't know the reason why it should be like this, though. The whole situation with these two otherwise fine frigates seems to be a tad bizarre. But, I can adjust the RF and then add the RM. Actually there are enough differences anyway to warrant that, I think. But, I do suspect, still that the absence of the TTs as seen on your submitted pics is merely a temporary one.

Tim: I agree with you about the concern for their overall condition presently, given the rather perilous state of the Rumanian economy etc But I'm with you on the 'presence' thing and the potential if handled with the proper care that these ships possess.

This image should settle any ambiguities about whether both ships are armed with torpedo tubes! Look closely at the Regele Ferdinand and compare with her sister!

MC: have you checked out my suggestion for what can be done with the Rumanian ships at the AU-forum? If not do it! I've actually done what you suggested, so Great Minds think alike! ;)

Don't highjack this thread for general discussion about Romanian navy. This is supposed to be the thread for my Romanian navy shipbucket drawings. Feel free to continue the discussion in General discussion or off-topic forum.

I humbly apologize and hereby urge everyone to cease and desist with further discussions on the RF and RM here, or shift over to general discussion fora.
