I understand your basic concept, it's just that the turreted
tugboat actually might work, with a smaller turret. I think
that you may have invented something like a modern
USS Monitor/self-protecting support vessel.

But then I need to open a new topic, for in this topic we don't care about physics, and all other things.

This is my Vickers Vedette SkyHook, 1970s Advance Anti-Submarine Corvette. 8-)

Harrier GR.3 Seaplane can arm 30 mm cannon pod, Sonobuoy, Stingray Torpedo, Drop Tank , and/or AIM-9L Sidewinder SAM. :P

JSB : Harrier is a standard flighter aircraft of RN aircraft carrier, you can add/remove portable float in 1 hour.

Harrier can vertical take-off/ landing on this corvette but flight deck and superstructure will damage by turbofan engine in 6 months.

ASW Harrier Seaplane is the safety solution safety option and save the fuel, Seaplane Batch II can drop portable float and back to V/STOL aircraft

That fire support ship looked somewhat close the river monitor conversions the US did in Vietnam, just with smaller guns. Otherwise, the float Harrier ship reminds me of that crazy 70s scheme to launch (or was it recover?) them via crane from what looked like a modified frigate.
