I was on the Antelope's Type 21 during my reserve cruise in 1978 in Long Beach before she was lost in the Falklands. It had a crew's pub and we were well entertained by the RN! John Courage in cans!

I think you've done a very fine badge for HMS Antelope, but When you say yes to my offer and I'm doing it for you - though I'm busy with reconstruction all CoA threads - I'm not very amused, when I have completed the drawing and come here to see, you've drawn it yourself. I think it would have been both nice and polite if you have told me. Anyway; now I've drawn it (and the later too) I will present it:


The badge for HMS Achates is wrong regarding the arms. Both arms are normal bare skinned.

I would definitely use yours in place of the one I did. Mine is OK but no more than that.

I knew you were going to require a lot of time to rebuild the COA pages which is why I had another go at producing the COA for Antelope myself. Everybody keeps telling me to keep trying with the COA's, so I do not mind if I draw one that you then do a much better job of, it just reminds me that I need to do better if I want my COA's to make it at the real life level. You are a hard artist to try to live up to Kim.

The drawing I had to work from for Achates was so small I couldn't tell whether they were bare arms or armoured in some way. I will have to have another go. At least I was happy with the Spear

Fair enough I've found this on the net. I'll hope it clarify the view of the arms despite 'COPYRIGHT' is written cross over

HMS Glowworm

HMS Glowworm was a G-class destroyer built for the Royal Navy in the mid-1930s. During the Spanish Civil War the ship spent part of 1936 and 1937 in Spanish waters, enforcing the arms blockade imposed by Britain and France on both sides of the conflict. Glowworm was transferred from the Mediterranean Fleet shortly after the beginning of World War II to the British Isles, to escort shipping in local waters. In March 1940, she was transferred to the Home Fleet, just in time to participate in the opening stages of the Norwegian Campaign. On 8 April 1940 Glowworm encountered German destroyers transporting troops to invade Norway in Operation Weserübung. The destroyers attempted to disengage while calling for help from the heavy cruiser Admiral Hipper. Glowworm was heavily damaged by Admiral Hipper, but still attempted to torpedo the German ship. The two ships collided, which broke the bow off Glowworm, and she sank shortly afterwards.

Excellent addition to the thread Weisman!

The Glowworm's last captain, Lt.Cdr. Roope, was posthumously
awarded the first Victoria Cross of WWII for his performance in this
ship's final battle.
