During the 50's & 60's the UK produced designs as good as any in the world and in a lot of cases better. It is a pity that debts and politics played such a large part in killing off a major portion of UK aircraft design and production facilities.

The Venom and Vixen were great aircraft that never had the money spent on them to be able to achieve their full potential.

The Hawker P.1027 was an enlarged development of the Tempest fitted with the Rolls-Royce Eagle but cancelled before it got off the drawing board.

That's an excellent drawing of a potentially great aircraft.

Would that design have been produced before or after the 'Fury' designs?

After I believe, it was roughly a Westland Wyvern contemporary.
