Thanks everyone! As Hood says the primary threat facing this destroyer class is air attack during their time of service so the lack of an aft turret is less of an issue, but the follow-on class of destroyers will once more have a 4.5" mount aft.
The 2-pdr and 40mm combination is kind of an oversight by me, but I figure as this is the lead ship of the class commissioned during the war the 40mm mounts could be in short supply...

@BCRenown - thanks for the images, you've given me some ideas for the follow-on class :)

Thanks Rowdy. I'm glad you liked my 2 cents worth. We must remember though, that the 4.5" was also an AA mounting and a long range one at that. The Bofors, in whatever style of mounting, was never substantially more than a revenge weapon against air attack.

I find it completely incomprehensible that even as early 1942 the RN failed to recognize the fact that the days mass torpedo attacks on an enemy fleet were all but over and continued to insist on two banks of torpedo tubes over guns. Otherwise, the 'Battles' might have been nearer to perfect.

Also, the DNC was worried about weight and length. When the Battles were being built, a major problem was the lack of slips and that's partly why the Weapons were built, to be shorter so they could be built by other yards. Adding an aft turret added a lot of length and weight. As you say, having two banks of torpedoes wasted deckspace, but the internal space had to be found too. I'm sure a three-turret Battle design was tried (remembering what's in Friedman's British Destroyers and Frigates), with the UD 4.5in mount - which of course became the Daring - an even larger and more expensive design. At this time the DNC was still comparing his efforts against what seemed to be superior American Gearings and Summers.

I'm finally back with more ships - this time the Napier Class destroyers inspired in no small part by BCRenown's postings on the previous page:

The squat, elongated bridge gives it a sort of peculiar vibe but otherwise I rather like it!

Bridge indeed looks bit odd, but it's an impressive looking destroyer.

I like it!
I like the bridge, its kind of a prototype streamlined bridge of the type fitted to early 1950s designs.

Nice one, Rowdy. However, I do think you need to raise the height of the bridge and reverse the position of the foremast supports. After all, your warships have to look as good as your warplanes, hahaha.

Thanks for the comments guys :)

I tried playing around with a taller bridge but couldn't get it to look right, and since I kinda like how the low bridge looks I'll leave it as is for now.
