DG - very good info on the SMS Leipzig, except one detail: it was then-Fregattenkapitän Franz Hipper; the 'von' he added only in 1916, having been ennobled (knighted; in German 'Ritter') by the Bavarian King.

Thanks to everyone for the comments. The history and pictures of all ships have been collected on the first page and the project is closed fro now.
