Very nice Krakatoa ... will there be a later-war version with oodles of AA? (Not trying to be naggy or demanding, just think it'd look cool. Although I think you could be forgiven for omitting that gradient camo!)

Hey Adam,

Add your name to the list, remove the crane and catapult, replace the French 37's with US style twin and quad 40mm, lots of single 20mm.

Then it would go (Redhorse/Latuch/Krakatoa/apdsmith). Give it a go!

Besides there is still Spain, Russia and all the South American countries plus loads of others that could still use an entry here.

Hi Krakatoa,

Oh, yeah, I know - in theory simple, but have you seen how long it takes me to get a drawing out of the door? I'm still toying with the AU I've set up to let me practise different drawing styles - SB's standards are going up faster than mine at this point in time!

Regards,
Adam

I've updated the cretan battleship.

@Garlicdesign

If that's what you mean, the sponson are designed to be wide enaught for the forward flak director to turn 360°.

One for Argentina. All that beef they sell overseas has come back as a new Battleship.

Argentina placed an order with a US yard to build a replacement ship for the old coast defence battleships that were still part of the Argentinian Navy. The order was to be supplied in three parts. First was the building of the new ship, once it was received, the Moreno would go for rebuilding, and once that was complete Rivadavia would be sent.

The new ship had to be an advance on the Rivadavia type even if the armament was to be the same due to the current treaty restrictions. 12x12" in four triple turrets gave the ship the same armament but gave the full broadside where the Rivadavia's were limited with the cross deck turret arrangement. The biggest change was the speed of the ship which increased from 22 knots to 27 knots. The new layout of the aircraft handling facilities aft gave an interesting silhouette. Single 5" AA guns gave the secondary armament a dual purpose function. Twin .5" Browning machine guns rounded out the armament of a very useful ship.

A nice design Nigel. It 'looks' heavier than 25,000 tons, especially with twelve 12in guns, but I guess the armour is going to be fairly light.

I just love how balanced prewar USN insfluenced designs look, especially this one, good work!
