I have a lot of stuff in the works, but for now, to pass the time, a sailing ship WIP.
This is based on (actually it's more of a copy) of the HMS Victoria (1859).
Heavy WIP. HMS Victory to the right for mast and rigging reference.
In 1858, the RSN's largest wooden ship-of-the-line, HSMS Claircastle was launched and it's sister ship, HSMS Elisabethtown, was launched in 1859. Ironically, they were nearly identical (although very slightly lower in tonnage) to the HMS Victoria, launched in 1859. Their engines were slightly more powerful and able to propel the Claircastle to 12.8 kts, making her the fastest three decker in the world, surpassing the HMS Victoria. The Elisabethtown was as fast as HMS Victoria, making 11.8 kts.
They were the last wooden, first-rate, three deck ships to be built in Salide. They were both in service until 1873 (although obsolete with the introduction of steelhulled warships), when they were placed in the reserve fleet. HSMS Claircastle was the flagship for the RSN from 1862 to 1873 and later saved from scrapping in 1898 and placed in a permanent dry-dock in 1933.
