A never-were for an AU again...
What originally started as a support ship for a minor power (AKA Sweden) evolved into a mini JSS suitable of undertaking counter-narcotics and piracy missions as well as bona-fide support missions.
Built near enough to the specifications of that challenge they are capable of embarking up-to four Lynx or two Merlin as well as rotary wing UAVs and when the time comes Scan Eagle. Their flex-bay is capable of launching and recovering USVs and RHIBS of which four large examples can be carried in addition to the semi-permanent container modules. Temporary container modules for cargo and the like are stored topside in a dedicated 'pocket bay'.
Astern refuelling is a possibility but not being actively practised in TG is unlikely to have been in the final design. Refuelling rigs amidships provide liquid replenishment capacity as well as the rigging for dry cargo transfer. VERTREP may be accomplished via embarked helicopters supplied via the hangar elevator.
Armament is reasonably comprehensive for such a vessel comprising of two Millennium guns and a pair of .50 HMGs, other options were studied including Seastreak, a 76mm SR and a quartet of 40mm Bofors before the final scheme was frozen.
The design was schemed to have a maximum speed of 20kts for limited periods with a sustainable cruising speed of 17kts. Power is of the IEP variety from four MTU diesel units.
Crew wise the ships are designed to be manned by a complement of 40 with permanent accommodation for a further 80 personnel which includes medical staff, aircrew and maintenance staff and boarding parties. Limited duration accommodation is provided for another 30 people which is intended to be used for refugees, survivors etc. Further accommodation could be had in containerised form if need be.
I think that's all for now...
