Allrigth, here is the corrected version that Bezobrasov, Ari Saarinen has constructed:

SHIPBUCKET STYLE

1. Scale
All shipbucket drawings are set at 2 pixels to 1 foot scale. This means that 1 pixel compares to 0.1524 meters (15.24 cm). When you start drawing, scale your reference images to this scale at once. Be precise. When using reference images, make sure you know the difference between overall length, length between perpendiculars and waterline length. Be precise when you measure the length, but always remember not to be grading in millimeters.

snip
I would recommend adding a small illustration to point out the differences between overall, waterline and between perpendiculars length.
The last one is not self explanatory, and there are some variations on how it is measured. There is a another measurement used by merchant vessels and that is the registered length (which sometimes equates with the between perpendiculars length)

It looks generally fine to me, only one minor thing:

With regards to railings, it is the preference to use the Standard-type railing (six pix. tall, with two pix. spacing in between the railings).
It describes the height of the railings but not their width.

I agree wholly with Novice's suggestion, since, really, however, lucidly you try to describe that particular issue of how to measure length, with words only, you'll end up with lingering ambiguities. So, illustrations to adjoin the text is highly desirable.

eswube, I tried to follow your somewhat murky suggestion, but I can see that I did not fully comprehend what you really meant. Now I do, and I can see how that might be a future issue. I believe that you refer to the spacing (distance) between the stanchions that are supporting the hemp/steel chain railings? Am I correct? If so, why don't we let more people have an input on that, and also let Golly have his say?
I'll more glad to add that if need be!

People who can 'see' the ideas behind writing will have it easy. For the rest of the people a picture can truly say more than a thousand words. Reading the words can leave us blank while the picture can turn the light bulb on. Put as many pictures in as you can.

A number of the suggested additions hint at some sort of appendix or even a "recommended practices" document.

Example color (colour) pallets (with RGB, hex, and other values)
Example port holes, railings, rigging, antenna colors
Pallets for specific navies at specific time periods
The 45 degree shading tutorial
Others

All these would provide superb clarification or new bucketeers and even the more experienced.
The section would be a living document, expanded whenever the same old questions come up or when somebody quotes some archain style rule that has slipped in undocumented over time.

I'd be happy to put together a document regarding the different general sail styles (there are 4-5) with example pallets. I think I also have some useful pallets I've seen posted.

LOA on hulls tends to be badly documented on line, most sites don't specify LOA, perpendiculars, at waterline, etc.

well like I said, Im not at my best when it comes making tutorial images, so I would really appreaciate all sort of contributions in this field. I do agree with Krakatoa, that images work lot better in making the rules clear than wall of text

Sorry, but english is not my native language and actually terms "stanchion" is new to me. Sorry for giving "murky suggestions" ("murky" being another new word  )

Could You please explain what's Your problem? Am I forbidding anyone from "having an input"? Particularly Golly?

The idea is that everyone can express their opinions and I value everyone's input. Arguing over semantichs over these issues is rather petty in my eyes, so please, lets try to be nice to each others and understand we all do this for the Bucket's sake.

Oh no, my dear eswube! I didn't mean to imply any such thing. I only wanted to emphasize that it could be useful to wait with that particular issue tll people here have had their say, if any - then, if the members and admin., would agree, I'd be happy to once more edit the document. I suspect, from previous discussion on the board, that this may be a more radical departure from the original rules, hence why other members' opinion on the subject-matter would be valuable!
So, my friend, if you took my wording to imply anything else, be assured that was not the intention!

I agree with CraigH, on one aspect, and I know he referred to a separate tutorial page - namely that our rules should be contained within a living document, although always reflecting the underpinning philosophy behind Shipbucket.

Regarding railings. I always use standard 6 pixel high (2 pixel space) 5 pixel width (between uprights/stanchions) for normal side and I reduce the gap to 3 or 2 pixels for angled sections of overhangs etc. Again, a picture probably better than a text description.
