1) Sonar & RBU's.
On "why": this ship, by the time she was rebuilt, became a missile cruiser with the same purpose as the contemporary russian kynda class(when refited in 1963).
This russian ships had RBU and sonar.
On "how": i don't know how it affect the hull but the russian did so on their Ognevoy-class destroyer. So although that's a bigger ship it should be feasible.

2)it's quite simple indeed. In fact i didn't knew if it should provide protection from the back of the launch system or from the missile it self has it went out of the tube. It seems it's the first hypothesise.

3) I allready chose to redesign this part of the ship and remove the RBU. I will only keep a "RBU like" system in front of the ship to have a soviet aspect.

4)I'm actually working on the Volkhov. In my previous post it was already intended to be fitted in 1963.
Can i use a mr-300 angara instead of the p-12 spoon rest?

1) Pr.58's were built from the beginning with some ASW capabilities. It's easier, and somewhat more practical. Well, never mind. Your decision. ;)

4) I had no time to search for an article (I have) about Soviet naval SAM's (namely the part about Volkhov), but entry on Pr.70E on Russian-Ships.info ( http://russian-ships.info/eng/warships/ ... _68bis.htm ) is as follows:

Project 70E – 1 unit: Dzerzhinskiy, Nikolaev, Shipyard №444 named after A. Marti 15.10.1957-30.08.1962. 1x2 launcher SM-64 SAM system M-2 «Volkhov-M» (10 missiles V-750) instead of one stern MK-5bis gun – Fire control system «Korvet-Sevan», removed 8x2 37 mm V-11M, radar «Zalp», «Zarya», added air/surface search radar P-500 «Kliver», air/surface search radar «Fut-N», air search radar MR-200 «Kaktus», radar «Razliv» (removed in 1974-75), DG-300 replaced by 4 diesel generators x400 kW. 12970/16070 tons, draft 7,2 m, 32 kts, 7400 nmi (17 knots), crew - 1266

Chile looked to replace the scrapped battleship Almirante Lattorre in the early 1960's. Lack of funds meant that sourcing a new ship had to be put off to the early 1970's. Eventually overtures were made to the Ukraine to purchase one of their Zhdantiger class cruisers, the Ukraine being strapped for cash at that time agreed to the sale. The ship arrived in Chilean waters in 1975 and was named Almirante Lattorre in honour of the long served ship and Admiral of that name.

At that stage the armament was the remaining 6x152mm guns in two triple turrets all forward, and 8x100mm dual purpose guns in twin mountings down each side of the ship. The missile armament consisted of three twin mountings of (Osa-M ?) . The three to four Kamov Ka-25 helicopters provided the anti-submarine force.

Edit: I have retagged the above information as I had the time scales wrong for the equipment I had used. Originally I had used 1960's when it should be mid 70's. NJM

Interesting design and nice job blending East and West. 1963, however is definitely too early for Ka-27s, its first flight wasn't until 1973, and even pushing it for the Ka-25, which didn't enter service until 1968 (it did first fly though in 1961 so with a little au leeway it might be possible to use them).

So,
to comply with your time line you could use a kamov Ka-15 (i'm "afraid" you have to draw it....:-) ).

Or "Navalise" a land Mil Mi-1 or Mil Mi-4 . who were already drawn.
If your as slacker as i am, that will be a great advantage..........

Personaly i've chosen the Mi-4 for an on going design for this topic.

If this drawing is supposed to show the ship in/around 1963 then Ka-25 seems to be too eraly and Mi-4 would be bit better option. And - again if it's 1963 - it's definitely way too early for Osa SAM's which weren't around before 1972 (leaving aside that it would take several more years before they were cleared for export) and which - more importantly - seem to lack their guidance radars (4R33, NATO "Pop Group"). ;)

I know you choose to keep russian weapons, but has SAM have more "electronics" than guns, wouldn't it be better to use a british missile?
