When I was a child, back in the 70s, my hometown was part of a NATO low level flying area. Starfighters and Phantoms could be heard and seen almost every day, and especially the F-4 with her thick black smoke trails and her deafening sound really seemed to rip the skies apart when a pack of two came low above the hills. For us kids, this was just great.

I remember the days well. I was in a cottage once in the lake distict. We always got a wake up call from a pair of Tornado. Airshows were more entertaining too. :geek:
