Thanks for the complements folks!

Thanks to heuhen for spotting the length flaw! That and a couple other mistakes were corrected. Next up will be your basic Type VII F variant. This was another specialty boat intended to refuel/restock subs on patrol.

IF the non-updated version still shows up, I'm waiting for Photobucket to update the image.

After that I think I'll look at conning tower variations. I'm not sure if I'll do complete boats or present them as a "Parts Sheet". With Type VII's there's so many variations they could fave a ball exploring specific boats over time, different flood hole patterns, paint jobs, etc.

I've asked Alvama to redraw his Type IX...he's a bit busy these days but maybe down the road.

I'll try to finish my Juliett submarine tomorrow ... I hadn't realized how weird this sub was :(

Wrapping up the USN G Class subs.
[ img ]
USA, G-3 USS Turbot (SS-31)(1915)
Another Lake designed boat the Turbot G-3 had six 18 inch (457 mm) torpedo tubes: two bow internal, two bow external, and two stern external, with 10 torpedoes. She was the only one of the class with diesel engines. While being completed at the Brooklyn Navy Yard she was fitted with sponsons to improve stability.

USA, SSK G-4 USS Thrasher (SS-26)(1914)
G-4 had two bow and two stern 18 inch (457 mm) internal torpedo tubes, with 8 torpedoes. Four engines were installed, in tandem as in G-2, except there was no clutch between them. This created severe vibrations in operation, as it was impossible to perfectly synchronize the engines, a problem the later AA-1-class submarines experienced.

None of the Simon Lake designed boats of this period were well received and all had design and operational problems. As a result they were all scrapped shortly after WW1.

Thanks all!

@adenandy: Maybe! The American H Class I'm working on now was also built under license in both Canada and the UK during WW1. That really needs the UK variation since they were the biggest operators of the class.

I was originally planning on doing random subs that were of interest to me. That changed to "all the US subs were built through to the end of WW1" plus a few random ones.

If I get useful images, I'll consider it. OR, jump in and draw your own! FD is stellar for adding details we can't do in SB scale.

Happy drawing!

I had a really shitty time drawing the painted towing hawser running along the hull.
Here is the Pr. 651 "Juliett" in the NATO terminology :
