Nusantaran Armoured Units (1997)
Nusantara, when it was established had a large number of tanks from Indonesia and Singapore with a few more from Malaysia which were established into eight armoured regiments. The total were 63 Centurions, 116 FV101 Scoprions (with the 90mm cockerill) and 625 AMX-13s. These tanks were upgraded to have M2HB Browning mountings on the turrets for more anti-infantry weapons. They were given better engines and electronics in order to prolong their usefulness.

I see some logistical problems coming along even now.
indonesia had the van speijk class bought from the netherlands in service. seeing the age of your other vessels, they would still be in use. so, you'd look at the dutch and british for spares. they also had italian guns.

iwo jima = US, steam powered
spruance = US, gas turbine powered
lutjens class, US and germany, steam powered

even in the propulsion systems alone, 5 classes of ships (at least, because the other nations would have had ships in use too when this AU story takes over) already use 4 or 5 different logistical chains, all requiring storage, transport, and the politics of getting them.

as, by 2014, real life indonesia and singapore at least have ships specially designed for them and new build, I see no reason why not go for new build ships. they are more capable, and, especially looking at the above, most likely cheaper to maintain then all these second-hand vessels.

in addition, the fleet buildup seems a bit unlikely, not fitting the role my mind says they should have in your navy. but I will not comment on that further, although I will answer questions you might have about that.

so yeah, just put a little bit more thought into this

Adding to the above, the INS Vikrant wasn't quite a floating wreck when they decommisioned her, but she was in very poor condition. A couple of years as a museum ship did her no favours either.
Not to mention that you probably wouldn't get her before 2000 or quite possibly even later.
Combining three countries is a major undertaking in and of itself so I'd be surprised if you'd be able to get thing organized enough to even consider buying anything, let alone an aircraft carrier, before 1997 at the earliest. Then you have to negotiate the sale which can easily take a year or two, if not more. It's now 1999 and you're the happy owner of a glorified hulk. You now have to overhaul her. Designing the overhaul is a pretty specialised job and it can easily take a couple of years. Now a lot of it will have been done while you were negotiating with the indians, but I'd still say you need another year. The overhaul itself is again at least a year, two more likely. Learning the basics of carrier operations and training the cadres probably takes another three years.
So it's now 2005 and you're the happy owner of a 60 year old carrier that's only just beginning to be useful with maybe another ten years of life left in her, at most.

Frankly I'd wait until the Principe de Asturia comes up for sale in 2013.
It's in a lot better condition, is generally younger and it gives you 20 years to properly unify your country, work out a shared naval strategy and work up the navy and especially the logistical side of thing to the point where they can handle a carrier.

Part of me wants to say that you should just order lots of new cheap small warships rather than used old stuff (but that just so you get to draw more new ships unless you buy stuff that has not be drawn yet in shipbucket and kill 2 birds )

Why not get the Kidd Class DDG's instead? You will have commonality with the Spruance DD's.

Okay, I will remove INS Vikrant as the carrier of the Royal Nusantaran Navy and leave that position empty for a while.
Now for the destroyers, the Spruance class are the DDs of the Royal Nusantaran Navy with the Kidd class that Judah14 suggested as the DDG of the Navy, the Lutjens were used as training vessels for the new ship crews

Have you considered the economics in your fleet plans at all? Buying the Lutjens-class solely for training purposes just doesn't make sense; nor does it that those ships ought to serve as training vessels for forthcoming Spruances and Kidds (which were btw, IRL sold to the Republic of China (Taiwan)), since the propulsion system is completely different, many weapons systems too, as well as some electronics - but chiefly the propulsion (steam vs. COGOG!)

Moving this to the beginners forums, I should have done so with your first AU but I didn't noticed until it had about 30 pages of posts already...

But anyways welcome to shipbucket from my part as well. I'll suggest to you what I've suggested to all newcommers as well; Don't hit your head to the wall whilst trying to gain some applaud with plausible AU scenarios, the crowd is so tough that you wont satisfy them ever. Instead focus more on the actual drawings, improve your skills and and learn to master the shipbucket style. Its the drawings that matter and with awsome shipbucket art, you can get away with just about anything;)

I agree with Golly. Start by producing the drawings and worry about backgrounds later.
Personally I'd start with a real design, but if that's not your thing I'd pick one design and work on it till you get it right. Post plenty of WIPs and we'll provide plenty of feedback.
The worst you can do is posting an avalanche of poorly thought out kitbashes.

KDN Hang Tuah
This was formerly KD Hang Tuah of Malaysia then it became KDN Hang Tuah (FF-01), it served with the Royal Nusantaran Navy until being decommissioned in 2003. It is now a museum ship.
