Actually I had the Study 23 (1967) in my mind (http://s2.postimg.org/wlsx13s95/books.png, http://s1.postimg.org/fetqfb3wf/books_002.png), with four of my GT3 turbines (look in my Conon Mk2 Class) for 30kn speed. Could take 8-9 large helicopters (AS332F in my case) or 12-14 medium (AB212) or mix of two types. Timeline would be same with Miltiades Class (early to mid 1970's). If thie designe could support the 4.5" Mk6, then I am sure it can have the 127/54C.

how would you set up 3 gas turbines to 2 shafts? not impossible, but there are a few methods and I wonder which one you had in mind :P

GT3 is the model of this gas turbine, Aerodyne GT3-AS-###. "GT" stands for Gas Turbine", "AS" stands for "Armstrong Siddeley" and "###" refers to horsepower. The GT1 was the Bristol Proteus, GT2 was based on the indigenous J110 turbojet and GT3 was based on Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire (which was made under lisence for the R-55 bomber). The newer GT4 comes from SNECMA M53.

Propulsion of this ship will be the same with Lysander Class cruisers, FOUR gas turbines on COGAG configuration.

Naming:

"J"=Turbojet
"TF"=Turbofan
"GT"=Gas Turbine (Marine Application)
"TG"=Turbine Generator
"TP"=Turboprop

oh sorry, I misread that you would have had 3 gas turbines on board but now I see 4 xD (must not do 2 things at the same time)

Is that proposal above feasible? If yes, RHN AU would have only one Helicopter Cruiser instead of two.

If he put up the gas turbine in the same layout as on the Norwegian frigate, as I have pm to you, then it's possible. but as you say he have 4 turbines.

Yes, four turbines in classic COGAG layout. Ship can use one turbine (either shaft, non powered shaft turning free), two turbines (either pair) or all. All RHN ships with COGAG work in this way, even the new Als150 DDG.

A evolution of the design in next decade will incude APAR, VLS, GT4 turbines and the weaponry of Als150. The reason for this is obvious : RHN does not need LPH, since has four LSD (as in previous page) which provide enough transport capacity, while all modern designs are too slow (25 kn at the best) to follow rest fleet.

For the early design (timeline early to mid 1970's)

I think this out of scale, link above say 595ft (181.4m) for the Stydy 23, our design is as bulky as the Vickers light carrier and above 200m long. Also seems to be steam powered, as Study 22, while only Study 21 is Gas Turbine Powered. Crew of 1068 seem also large.

The Invisible had 650 crew + 350 air wing, plus 500 Marines. Any idea for supporting crew (techncians etc) for various aircraft (fixed wing and rotary wing) in service with Navies?

Even if this helicopter carrier (or more correctly helicopter cruiser, as this will be her classfication) is feasible, think that concetrating many forces on a single unit means also many losses in case of sinking. Besides, I am not very fond of having a Task Force to protect a single unit in East Med, while the real problem is the protection of the numerous islands of East Aegean, an truly assymetric war to fight.

The Miltiades Class has AAW missiles with 185km effective range, the carrier above 120 km (SM-2 MR), even in new Kimon II (Als150) Air Defense Area is restricted to 150 km due to APAR's illumination range.

Another option could be a Venetto-like helicopter cruiser built on Lysander hull (which is 186.5m long and 18.7m wide).
