Some ship-borne EW systems I thought reading the chapter "Electronic Warfare" from World Naval Systems:
CM series: (stands for "Chaff Launcher"): Developed and tested by the Development & Research Center of RHN (AU) in 1960's, this was the first such system in service with Navy. Three versions exist, named from the diamenter of the tube, 81mm, 107mm and 120mm.
DL series : These are decoys for countering anti-ship missiles. Inspired from a chinese system, perhaps I will replace it with other.
DARE: The most common combined ESM/ECM, many versions exist, as it is under continious development from 1972. Name are the intials of "Direction finding", "Analysis", "Recognition", "Encounter". The basic versions (each with its own impovements) are:
-DARE-A (Air or Attack), developed for creating a SEAD aircraft. A variety of missiles used (among them AGM-45 Shrike, AGM-78 Strandard ARM, AS.37 Martel, ARMAT) together with US or French systems. Never connected to AGM-88 HARM. Also a long range DARE-A was tested in P6M using modified RIM-67ER missiles with anti-radar seeker to creating an "AWACS-killer". The RHAF AC-122 AEW was used as target, it is unknown if the the system entered service.
-DARE J: The jammer variant, used mainly from Land Forces.
-DARE S : Developed for surface ships, it is one of the earliest variants. Tested on Sfendoni sub-class DDM (Fletcher-M) in late 1970's, was connected to RGM-78 missiles (anti-radar RGM-66) for attacking shore based radars. It could also lock on fighters when their radar was on. The most common variant is ESM/ECM and engages chaffs or decoys for protecting its platform. Imported ECM/ESM were used also, when in other cases the DARE-S was connected with Corvus system. DARE-S has also jamming capabilities.
-DARE U: The submarine variant, now extinct. Used only from Trident Class submarines (Oberon-HL). Glafkos/Poseidon Class (Agosta 70HL) use license-made Israeli system and countermeasures, like the new Scorpene-HL submarines. However, a new DARE-U is on developement for use in future submarines.
Note that the "DARE" system did existed in some form in real Hellas, for Army I think.
