So what do you want? An LST or an LSD? They're not exactly the same thing.

Okay then, now that we know what you actually want what's the operational requirement? Cargo, range, speed, number of small craft, weapons etc, etc.

I always had in my mind something between HNLMS Johan de Witt (L801) and HNLMS Rotterdam (L800) in capacity, do not know exactly why. But with some fire support capability and anti-missile defense, plus point defense system. Dutch ships have also torpedo decoy system (the classic Nixie). Main mission will be for transport forces to Cyprus. Let's name it "Project LSD Mk3".

The real Jason Class LST (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jason-clas ... nding_ship) also excist in my Navy, real Hellas has 5, for my AU going for 8-10.

After WW2 RHN (AU) received two Cabildo/Casa Grande LSD (LSD Mk1), in 1970's something indigenous equivalent (LSD Mk2) built and then this above for 2020's timeline.

You'll have to be more specific. What type of landing craft is it going to operate and how many? How many vehicles must it be able to carry and how heavy are they? How many 60 ton vehicles, 30 ton, 20 ton etc etc. There's a big difference between carrying a main battle tank and a Jeep.
How many troops? Does it need to be able to carry a full load of vehicles and troops or can we use flexible accommodations on the vehicle decks?
How many helicopters and what size, if any?
What kind of air defence weapons?

These numbers belong to Dutch ships, for "LSD Mk3"

Rotterdam : 4 EH-101 or 6 NH-90, 30 MBT, 170 IFV (perhaps reffers to YPR family), 600 troops, dock for 6 LCVP Mk3, 4 LCU Mk9 or LSM8 or 1-2 LCU Mk2 (NL). Flight deck 58m X 25m, two landing points for NH-90 (http://www.naval-technology.com/projects/rotterdam). I think that Johan de Witt can fit 2 US LCAC while and has 4 LCVP on davits.

So, helicopters will be 6 Cougar or 4 Chinook, MBT are Lion (based on UK Challenger), APC/IFV Leonidas/Centaurus (larger for the YPR, so above number reduce a bit). For an RHN (AU) ship, ARIS CIWS definetely, for gun think that one 76mm can be placed front.

Speed around 20-21 kn max.

Again, you have to be more specific. How many vehicles and what type? Since you are fond of alternate names please post their primary dimensions or provide a link to the real vehicle.
Similarly please post some info about the air defence system. Searching for it doesn't yield anything of use since as far as I can tell all your weapon systems are called Adis.

-MBT Lion is based on Challenger I, dimensions and weights same with Challenger I.In my AU I post yesterday history of this tank.
- Leonidas is the real APC developed in Hellas based on Austrian 4K, while Centaurus is a never built real Hellenic IFV.There is information in the net about them. In ny AU mortar carrier and anti-tank variants of Leonidas also exist, but hull is the same. Links below:

ADIS ( from the ancient Hellas god of death) are named SSM, while ARIS ( from ancient Hellas god of war) are named several systems, among them anti-tank missiles and two air defense systems. Names seem similar indeed, with one letter difference.

In page 54 of my AU I have some information of Aris VI CIWS. Generally I imagined a cross betwwen Goalkeeper and Phalanx, with different gun (a enlarged six barred Vulcan for 30X170 round). I believe that any weight I saved from the lighter gun is on the Phalanx type radar, so total weight perhaps is close to Goalkeeper. As for missile unit, its layout is inspired from Russin Kashtan, with 12 or 18 missiles based on Sidewinder frame with thrust vector and the seeker from Mistral, so we have about 90kg for each missile. Elavation/rotating system so is desighed to handle one unit with nine missiles in each side. I estimate weight about half of Mk29 GMLS loaded.

LCVP,LSM and all these vessels are the real ones.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ELVO_Kentaurus
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AIFV (perhaps on this vehicle the capacity of Rotterdam Class for "170 IFV" is based).

During Invisible Class development several "Helicopter Carrier Sudies" appeared. Could a helicopter cruiser based on these designs built for RHN? Helicopters would be HC-270A, Alouette III and AB212/AS332F. A single unit with armament based on Miltiades Class ( replacing the two ships with one). Propulsion would be COGAG. I think that running cost would be reduced from having two large steam powered units. Not sure if she could have at least one OTO Melara 76mm gun.

check out the Escort cruiser series 21 (a drawing is in the archive under never built designs Great Britain). most of the designs actually stemed from during CVA 01 as the plan was for 2 to 3 fleet carriers and a number of helecopter cruiser for ASW and alike.

the design dates from 1961 so has Sea Slug and 4.5 twin but a modern 1980's 90's take on the design could see 76mm OTO and VLS CGAG od CDAG. would be interesting to see what appears...
