I wonder if a research ship for Hellenic Center for Maritime Research in 1930's on this hull and serve post war also. And some minesweepers also. Perhpaps a minelayer could be built also.

That would depend on what kind of research you have in mind and how capable you want it to be.
I doubt she'd be of much use as a minelayer though, at least not post war. She doesn't have the deckspace to carry a meaningful load so she'll have to crane the mines over the side directly from the hold which is a very timeconsuming process. Much too slow in a world where effective and fast attack aircraft is a thing.

As for minelayer, its more question of wheter its just the standard desing added with minelayer, or dedicated minelayer build on the hull, which would naturally mean different deck arragments to stowe enough mines to be effective. If you can get it carry >100 mines, then you have quite handy coastal minelayer wich would fit nicely to any small/medium size navy for the treaty era and afterwards as well.

Also, a minesweeper of this size, packed with reasonable multipurpose armament is quite attractive as well, capable for deep water minesweeping, commaning/ smaller sweapers and launches inshore, conduct limited minelaying, operate as coastal escort and guard ship - the kind of ship that actually should make a bulk of the operative use for any small navy in prolonged hostilities.

That minesweeper design is the original UK Minesweeper of the mid to late 1930's of the same name HMS Halcyon.
It cant be classed as a real life drawing though as the hull is from one of Rowdy36's Sloops.

Maritime / Oceanographic Research from a semi-state/voluntary institute. Post war she would have a small deep sea suresearch sub, early rov etc. Serve at least until 1970's with gradually evolution of equipment.

The UK used converted Frigates of the River/Loch/Bay types for the types of service you want. Built to handle the North Atlantic they were very good sea boats.

For Aegean moslty even this converted minesweeper is adequate. Any source for converted frigate of the River/Loch/Bay type is welcomed. If HCMR could somehow take a converted frigate from these classes (perhaps one more for Navy) it will be good. There many available hulls I think in late 1940's/ early 1950's.

The book "Vanguard to Trident", by Eric J. Groove arrived in my hands yesterday and has a photo of a survey Loch/Bay frigate.

Something about missile boats swivelling in my mind a couple of days: The Malaysian Spica-M FAC was based on Swedish Spica II but had MM38 and diesel power. Could the original gas turbine powered version take Exocet missiles?

Any ideas of replace four 1970's built large LST's? They are about 144,5m X 21.6m, with helipad and hangar for two 10-ton helicopters. Timeline goes in 2020's.

As far as I know no-one is making traditional beaching LSTs these days.

I know that, mistake was mine. Acually these ships were LSD, but classified as LST for political reasons.

Do not forget though that real Hellas built the Jason Class LST.
