USA, F Class (1911-1922)

West Coast built diesel boats based out of San Pedro (Los Angeles) with a stint in Hawaii. An enlarged C & D Class hull armed with 4 x 18" torpedo tubes. F-1 was lost after a collision with F-3 in 1917. F-4 foundered off Hawaii in 1917.

Uh, Craig, little bit of a correction on where the F-class boats were built, two of them, F-3 & F-4 were built in Seattle, WA, by Moran Brothers Shipyard, which became Seattle Construction and Drydock Company/Seattle Dry Dock & Ship Building Company in 1911.

Thanks for the complements all.

@ nighthunter: :ugeek:

You're absolutely right on the construction locations...all I said was West Coast. The only hard location info I provided was the primary "BASE" locations over the life of the subs. ;)

Working on the "G Class"...actually 4 distinct subs which all were the result of an attempt to beak the monopoly on sub construction by Holland/ Electric Boat. Damned that trouble making Simon Lake! Nice thing is...a diversion from the same old shapes I've been drawing in this series of USN sub development.

Side note: Broke out my old 1/72 scale Revell Type VIIc. Did a little purchase of a fitting set and uber photo-etch parts. That bad boy is going to end up being a very expensive museum quality R/C sub some day.

Craig, apologies, thought you had said they were all built in San Fransisco.

Looking forward to all the USN submarines being done, a query, if I may, will you be attempting to do the USN WW2 Fleet boats?

I wasn't planning on doing any of the WW2 Fleet boats or the post war Guppy conversions.

My current plans are to keep moving up the alphabet until I burn out on USN subs Hopefully through the S or T Classes. That being said, I'm laying absolutely no claims on any USN subs/ships.
