Kim, I used the unofficial badges referred to by Bombhead on page 1, from the Empire series. The other badges seemed to refer to the later units of the name.

Try as I might I can't find any official badge issued for Sabre before 1971. I would say the correct badge for this ship would have a rope circle without the crown as shown on the Empire to Commonwealth site.

Kim has already done an S class badge for HMS Stormcloud. I used the sane surround as that and did a better looking set of crossed sabres and crown inside the surround.



I thought it came out quite well. It might do better with a slightly darker blue to act as a better contrast to the sabres and crown.

I may/may not have done a badges for a RAN Admiralty S Class Ships (wink, wink)

As long we make a drawing of a non-existing vessel, we can make a badge of our own, but I think it's important we find - and draw - correct badges for vessels existing (or have exist). Though I don't like the idea of unofficial badges in a period where there ought to be an official badge, I think it will be more correct to use that one though. After all we have documentation on that badge

Hi all,

A quick, and possibly daft, question, if I may - the crown shown directly above the sabres on the scans detailed by Krakatoa - is that not the RN sails-and-hull crown shown on most of the surface ships of that period rather than the 8-pointed crown drawn within the shield on the new badge?
