The Bayern modifications are fascinating.
Why retain the casement guns? They seem so out of place in the otherwise heavily modernized design

Naval tradition is the only real reason. The ship was instrumental in the nation's founding, and the guns were kept as a link to that history.

Unfortunately though, logic overcomes tradition. The casemate guns are gone, living only on the original Baden (Now a museum ship). Also removed was the Mk15 GMLS in favor of a VLS cell array.

When I get to the small ships, some of the casemate guns that were removed from the Baden were re-used in a kind of monitor.

The Surface Combat Fleet:

CBCN Ludwig von Bockholt

A large command cruiser, one was built as the flagship of the Marineflotte.



CAGN Windhuk

Intended to provide shore bombardment, surface warfare, and carrier/SDS air defense, DS Windhuk was a heavily modified Des Moines class CA. The design worked well enough that 4 more were laid down as new hulls (Performing better then the conversion). The Preussen class CBGN was cancelled as a result of the success of these ships, as well as with reactor/power load problems.



CLGN Namaqua (Flight II)

A dedicated air defense ship, one was built for each Seeadler and Sonnenkralle class carrier.



DDGN Admiral Ciliax

A well-rounded, multipurpose destroyer, the Ciliax class is the most numerous major ship of the Marineflotte.



FFG Phonix

Inspired by the MEKO series frigates, The Phonix was optimized for ASW use, though it does carry a modest array of AsHM.



All of these vessels are for the SMS version of Dreieinig, which at this point will be he only effective version. I have cut down the amount of advanced weapons (Linienblitz, EMRG's) as they are essentially brand new and would only be found on a few ships. The A few ships also have some minor cosmetic modifications from the originals, mostly around their bridges.

Next up will be the Amphibious assault ships and landing craft.

Addendum:

The EMRG and C-PAWS weapons have been removed from all ships. Edit necessary for SMS continuity.

If General Atomics gets one actually working (and Secy. Gates doesn't axe it), the EMRG may return.

Amphibious Assault Force:

LHN Alliance

A Nuclear powered Helicopter/STOVL assaul ship, the Alliance also included a well deck for 3 LCAC, and carried a 2000 man Marine force. Her air group typically consisted of 12 AS-565 and 12 AH-64 helicopters, as well as 12 A/F-9V Sonnenhawk STOVL Fighters.



LPD Adjudicator

Capable of delivering 54 heavy vehicles directly to the beach, as well as carrying a decent self defense/bombardmen armament, DS Adjudicator and DS Magistrate formed the core of the Dreieining Amphib forces.



LCAC Taifun

A seagoing LCAC design, the Taifun could carry a mix of forces ranging from Leopard MBT's, through APC's and infantry.



LCAC

A common LCAC design, this was carried on the LHN Alliance.



LST Islands

A quite capable LST bought from North Point, The Islands class could carry up to 20 vehicles.



LCU-2000

Intended to carry supplies to beachheads, the LCU can carry 3 MBT's or infantry if needed.



LCR-2000

This was a modified LCU-2000 hull, replacing the vehicle bay with an 88mm/71gun and two 150mm MLRS units. Additional rockets were also carried.



Acheron class Bombardment Ship

Sometimes called a Monitor, this was a platform for providing close fire support of amphibious landings.



Next will be FAC's and Gunboats

Before going on to the FAC's and other small craft, I decided to do a redesign of the Sonnenkralle based upon the fact that in SMS there is no "Russia" to have bought the hull or plans from.



Also has the new Zweihander CADS. Will be editing the other drawings to add this.

NOTE: Check back in the cruiser/destroyer section, the new Namaqua class CLGN has been added, and all of the ships with EMRG's and such have been removed. Those may show up again in a section called "Advanced Fleet", but that will wait until the Modern, Cold War, WWII and WWI equivalent ships are done.
