As I mentioned in Zelitz Helicopter History, August Zelitz designed an attack airboat for the navy in the 1930's.That was A-10,as it was the 10th modification of the original design. The RHN ordered 12 in 1936 for coastal defense, but all lost but one during the war (used from Hellenian partizans against Nazi ). After the war, Aerotech SA was established in Salonika in 1954. This company, under director Nikolaos Artemis, designed also some small hydrofoils from 9m to 22m and continued to develop attack airboats.

*Aerotech A12/A-14 (based on prewar A-10)

In Service : 1956-1982
Length : 21.2m
Beam : 5.9m
Displacement : ~40t (exact never announced)
Armament : A-12 had 2 X HMG 12.7mm & 4 X LMGb Bren 0.303", A-14 2 X grenade launchers MK19 in place of quadruple Bren. A-14 entered service in 1967 and had also 2 torpedo tubes.
Hull type : "W"
Propulsion : 2 X Aerodyne J05 motorjets,3000lbf thrust (engine radial R2800)
Speed : 50kn / 45kn
Note the A-10 was similar, had 4 Hotchkiss machine guns and powered by motorjets (built around BMW 132 radial engine), but was underpowered, even lighter than first postwar designs.However,12 A-10 built and a modified version with heavier armament and US engines never built.

*Aerotech A-16/A-18/A-20

In service : 1964-1992(A-16/A-18),1986-present(A-20)
Length : 27.60m
Beam : 7.2m
Overall Height : 6.77m
Displacement : 86tons (full load), 25t load
Hull type : "W" (A-20 has air-compressed form between hulls)
Engines : (A-16/A-18) 2 X Aerodyne J110M-39,7800hp & (A-20) 2 X Aerodyne J110M-42,8400hp total
Speed : max 70 knots, cruise 55 knots (calm sea) and 35-40 knots in state 5
Armament : (A-16) 2 X HMG 12.7mm, 2 X grenade launchers Mk19 (later E-40H,a reverse engineered version of Mk19), A-18 as the attack version had also a triple Oerlikon 20/L70 20mm and some had 2 torpedo tubes with 4 torpedos
(A-20) 8 X SSM-15, 2 X Soukos Medusa MK1 (2 X 12.7mm HMG), 2 X Grenade Launcher E-40H 40mm or 1 X Sea Thunder MRLS in place of Medusa MK1.
Electronic Equipment : (A-20) Infared Camera, navigation radar of DECCA type (of Hellenian design),Fire Control Radar (from CIWS ARIS VI).
Name Guide : LAAB = Landing Attack AirBoat, LAB = Landing AirBoat, VLLAAB = Very Large Landing Attack AirBoat, AAB = Attack AirBoat
Load (LAB A-16): 8 M38 or 120 troops or 60 troops with artillery and other heavy equipment (total weight 25 tons)
LAAB A-18/A-20 : 120 troops

*Aerotech A-38

This monster airboat developed in 1969-1975 an is equivalent to Soviet Pr.1232.1 Dzheyran.
Length : 45.6m
Beam : 14.2m
Displacement : ~470 tons(exact never announced)
Hull type : "Double W"
Engines : 4 X Aerodyne J750,total 33400hp (turboshaft copy of J-65 from F-84F fighters),installed in 2 pairs behind props
Speed : 60kn/40-50kn
Armament : 2 X Oto Breda Dardo 40mm, 2 X 3 Oerlikon 20/L70, 32 X 227mm MRLS Naval Thunder, 4 torpedo tubes with 8-12 torpedoes
Electonics : Various tested,to long to list (German,French,Israel origin and Hellenian patents)

Numbers Built

A-12 : 22 (1956-1962)
A-14 : 10 (1960-1962)
A-16/A-18 >40 (1964-1978)
A-20 : >60 (about half are conversions from A-18,1984-1992)
A-38 : 1973-1984 (prototype entered service in 1978) 14 planned, 6 built
All built in Salonica except A-38 which built in Dimitrov Shiyard of Messimvria (Black Sea)

The A-38 not only proved very expensive to built, but also suffered from mechanical failures and finally 8 cancelled. In 2010 the Navy Command of Black Sea has only 4 A-38 in service.

The real Kimon Class Destroyers were US-surplus Charles F. Adams AAW destroyers. The AU Kimon is based to US Coontz Class (page 47)

The Hermes II class,a variant of the venerable Konon Class.Equiped with Signaal SEWACO II Weapons Control System with completely different software, developed with Israel assistance. The EW equipment is both Hellenian origin (ESM,encrypted communications) and co-developed with Israel. The project started in 1987,to replace the old Hermes I,(a converted M1935 from Kriegsmarine, of which 3 bought in 1958-another story) and also the old Destroyers (Fletcher Class) Aspis and Velos, on which the Research & Development Naval Center had installed some EW equipment in early 1970's with Israel assistance. Finally all these old ships replaced with the much more capable and more efficient Hermes II ( as it was too expensive to use Fletchers for EW and patrol) in 1992.

I based the Nikiforos AAW Frigate on this design.

Somewhere in that old album I found the ASROC equipped Standard Frigate,it is not my modification.I also use this design for my AU Chilean Navy (Santiago Class) and Royal Iranian Navy (Lugash Class).

One more Aerotech design, the A-46.These two attack variants proposed in the Defensys Exchibition in 1988 but never ordered because Ministry of Defense felt that Navy does not need them and cancelled the construction of the prototype.Aerotech did took eight years to fix the continious mechanical failures of the A-38 (which also featured double engine per prop) absorbing nearly three times as much money as original cost of 14 in 1975.So,the result was to put the Aerotech project in deep freeze mode. But RHN continues to maintain its Aerotech fleet, especially the A-16/A-18/A-20 series, since these prooved very reliable.

The Landing Ship Command of RHN

*In HSY-206 superstructure is full width, so it has 2 CIWS.
*I am not sure if HSY-154 is plausible.
