There's no such thing as "nothing left to draw" If you can down 10 pints and draw, you're doing alright by my standards

USA, B Class (Viper Class) General Drawing FD (1907-1922)

USA, Cuttlefish B Class (Viper Class) Late (Ca 1916) FD

The 3rd class of USN submarines built. This class attempted to improve on the underwater speed and surface handling of the Holland designed boats. Mid-life a second periscope was added along with the expanded decking.

Have some FD Torpedoes.

Excellent work as ever and the FD torpedoes are a handy sheet too.

Folks, Thanks for the complements. Please shout if you see errors that need to be addressed.
Guilty admission: I am taking rare and minor liberties with standards for drawing legibility, double black masses, overweight structures, etc.

The torpedoes...Credit goes to Darth Panda for the top G7. I'll update that FD Torpedo Part sheet ASAP and add some more bits as I go. Feel free to add stuff if you draw FD Subs. Please add nationality, time period, and anything else useful to identify the parts.

@Karle: Typhoon...Probably when either you or ALVAMA draw it! :D Off line, ALVAMA mentioned he'd like to update his Type IX, and he's thinking about the Typhoon. I'd rather use the time elsewhere. I'm not going to hog FD Subs. It's an interesting place to play so please, join the fun.

Personally, I'm focused on early subs: Pre-WW1 through those built during the war. For now, specifically USN and maybe export subs. I'd still like to tackle some German WW2 boats but won't be terribly upset if somebody else takes them on. There's a lot of great artists here and subs in FD are great learning tools to improve pixel drafting...they aren't big time eaters like large targets (surface ships).

Moving forward with the early USN subs:
[ img ]
USA, C-Class (1908-1919)
[ img ]
USA, C-Class USS Octopus SS-9, C-1 (1910 appearance)

This class shows further evolution from the B-Class. Length, range, depth, reloads, were all improved. 3 were built for export to Austria-Hungary (U-5, U-6, U-12). The mushroom thingy on deck is a bell for underwater communication. An extra periscope and improved fairing were added to the sail of the class. An enlarged platform was added to the sail. There was a switch from a single prop and power drive train to dual.

[ img ]
USA, D-Class (1909-1922)
[ img ]
USA, D-Class USS Grayling SS-18, D-2 (1919 appearance)
SS-18 Grayling was used for experiments with forward dive planes.

Displaying the rapid growth of early subs, there was a focus on increased speed and survivability. This class was the first USN submarine with 4 torpedo tubes, improved interior bulkheads, better range, and improved radio communication. At this time all USN subs were petrol powered. Note also that the platforms were removable though they precluded "crash dives" when installed. Like the prior USN classes, these subs were intended for coastal use and training. This and the prior class were good to a depth of 200 feet (61 meters).
