I'm with Acelanceloet and TimothyC on that. From what I saw/read I have a feeling that this upload session has been apparently managed in a rather "eyebrow raising" manner, so to speak. :(

Well apparently there have been some sort of communication proplem. It seems to me that you guys are whining over some prosess which is not finisshed yet. I guess I shall do the whole thing myself next time and say nothing untill I'm done.

Remember, nothing is loss and if there is a some wrong ship in some wrong folder, it can be moved. It not like there is some single timewindow when I can access the database, I can do it any given time I'm on my own computer at home. I will sort out the folders and go trough the mistakes, be patient.

Like I said, there have been some sort of mix of communication as I tought you guys were complaining about the files missing which were infact in the museum.

Also my mistake was that I assumed that the naming of the files was done as it should be, thus the confusion with the paralel drawings in same folders (e.g. the deletion issue). What is there to be learnt? Next time we will revert back to the very old and burtal means of getting the filenames correct before submission to the uploading thread.

I think we indeed have an communication error here.....
the files were named as they should be. there were just a set of older drawings that had to be moved to museum beforehand so no files were lost by overwriting and no duplicate files (outdated or wrong drawings) were left in the archive.

The problem (that I am not alone in having as evidenced by the posts in this very thread) was that your posts implied that you were done (such as the comment about an "Enormous" amount of time needed to delete just 56 files). While fewer files will need to be deleted now, any act will require more care and will take reviewing each file that I had listed. So yes, there have been communication errors.

I'll try to phrase this differently then. Some of the replacement files had different names than the files they are replacing. For example, CVS R05 Invincible.gif was to have been replaced with CVS R05 Invincible 1980.png. Both file names are valid Shipbucket file name constructs, but the latter will not replace the former automatically in any file system with long file name support that I have ever used. That is why the deletions needed to be made. That is why I listed files to be deleted.

Pardon the sarcasm, but that has worked oh so incredibly well in the past. Heck, what would you have those people who's image hosts don't support spaces (photobucket), or capitalization (majhost), or even non-random file names (imgur) do? Somebody will still have to prepare the files for upload in those circumstances or none of their work will ever contribute to the main site archive.

Again, the issue of some old files in the folder is not relevant enough for anyone continue whining over the matter and how/why such things happen. Like I've said, I will fix the wrong files in time to come, no worries, no one was injured and no one will be in the future. ;)

Arguing over and over agian is not going to make those files corrected. It also wont rouse any drama, if you insist that as your purpose. I won't continue repeating my final word over the matter too many time.

In next uploading we will once again start paying attention to the file naming, and trust me, If it worked well back then, And I have no doupts it wouldn't work so in future. There always will be little errors around, most of the proplems have always occured when I've outscored the filecollection to outside hands. Normally in situations like these where group of people have to manage whole collection of dedicated files with accurate naming and form, coming from multiple sources, we try to get the bulk done, then see if something is wrong, somewhere are errors, then locate them, fix them, and try again and repeat the cycle untill everything is done, or reasonably good situation has been achieved.

But somehow in Shipbucket, and specially from few selected individuals the whole progress seems to be just a way of showing of ones pendatic small-mindness and use the valuable time and effort to mock and accuse others from errors and trying to blame me and other adm. rather than focusing on the actuall progress. All help is and has been appreciated, but lately it has been appearing that this "help" is more nuisance than actually benefitting me in the uploading process.
So I suggest everyone consider really carefully, in what they think they are doing. We are trying to keep this whole thing together, and so that everyone can participate. But if some people missuse this participation, We have no choise but to start limit on the ways and means how someone can participate. I don't want that, but if this trend continues in mindset of these few individuals, I really have no choise. Enough is enough in all things, including this constat nagging and bad spirit these few individuals keep imposing into this managment progress.

This is my final word over the matter And I will return to the issue once I've located the wrong files and deleted/moved them. Meanwhile, those who want to help, can keep posting here the files, that they feel are in wrong places. Other comments are not appreciated.

Golly,
Found a duplicate image:

1) Real Designs/United States of America/SV Ann McKim 1833.png
and
2) Real Designs/United States of America/SV Ann McKim.png

Nuke #2. Keep the Ann McKim 1833.

Also:
Regarding:
Real Designs/United States of America/USS Kalamazoo.png
Real Designs/United States of America/USS Roanoke.png

Consider Changing them to:
Real Designs/United States of America/MON Kalamazoo.png
Real Designs/United States of America/MON Roanoke.png

That GROUPS them with the other American Civil War Ironclads.
