I agree with Golly, FD scale would be great for doing smaller mini-subs (X-craft, Chariot etc.).

I'm actually hoping this might motivate others to try subs in FD! It's amazing what can be done in this scale...Might even be possible to do interiors.

@ raafif: I've not thought about what I might do next with FD subs. Well, maybe the Type VII or maybe some other small late war experimental boats.

Drawing the Type XXIII started as a break from Project Sail and that Light Carrier I've been working on. That and I've been in the mood to physically model something. I ran into an image of an 1/32 scale R/C Type XXIII I built and sold back in the 1990's. I want another one (or maybe a Schnelboot in 1/35 scale)...nice technically complex detailing and modeling work. Actually, subs are getting fairly simple with plug and play pressure hulls and electronic systems now (but really expensive).
