The USS Coronado recently tested the Kongsberg Naval Strike Missile:

Although the launcher used in the test is a temporary installation meant specifically for the test, it would be better if the USN adopts the NSM as an antiship missile for the LCS. By that time, it won't be a Little Crappy Ship anymore!

the avantage with NSM is that it easy to install on a ship, all you have to do is mount it on deck, connect some power and connect it to C&C computers...

You could, but a long-ish range anti ship missile doesn't really make sense unless you also fit the tanker with the means to locate targets beyond the horizon.

The funny thing about NSM is that if you know there is warships in that area from before, you can fire the NSM, the NSM have the ability to no need to be assigned a target, just told to fly in to a area, and us it's cameras and censors to see whats are there, then it will compare the shapes of those ships up to it's internal computer, and if those shapes fits.... it attack if it told to attack if it detect any warship. the other trick it have is that if it detect that it is getting target by someone, it will attack that vessel targeting it.

For this to work, the crew and the ship launching NSM must be 100% sure that this is the right thing to do... for if the missile target a container ship just because containers happens to be placed in a funny way.... but in theory that should not happens sins the NSM Censors should detect radio and radar noise...

Basically NSM is an missile that can be fired without an radar, bu it's stupid to do, for it's better to confirm that the target is in that area with an radar, then send out two-four NSM in an search pattern...

NSM you so silly!

In the Falklands war, the Argentinians mounted an Exocet battery on the back of a truck and managed to hit the destroyer Glamorgan...

It's not an ad hoc construction but full combat ready missile battery with launchers, mobile command posts, radar stations and resupply vehicles.
