Lets return to ships again. Revisiting the Project Orion LPH, but now she has the Italian size of 175m, as described in that site about Never Built Italian Ships.Real life Garibaldi can accommodate 16 x SH-3D, its hangar fits 12. One LPH "Orion" is enough to replace the two Miltiades helicopter cruisers, if I can have at least 8 large helicopters on it. But the ship needs to have somewhat better self defense capabilities from just Sea Sparrow and Dardo. Is it posible to use the smaller Mk26 GMLS (24 missiles)-or one Mk13 GMLS- plus one Mk29 and 4 Dardos on the standard 175m x 30m hull plus 8-12 helicopters ( number depending of size) ? Same propulsion with Kimon Class, for 30 kn max.
Another solution is to put the Mk13 in the position of Mk29 and later add Mk48 mod2 for Sea Sparrow/ESSM.
According to SecretProjects, some specs of the original design are:
CNR, now Fincantieri, 1978, for export (Garibaldi was yet on building)
Sea Control & Assault Ship
Displacement: 12500 tonn
overall lenght. 175 m
beam 30
x 19 m (draft? or superstructure?)
max speed: 29 nodi
4 CNR/Foster Wheeler boiler
3 VTOL squadron or heavy helicopter
SSM Otomat
Breda/Bofors 40/70
sclar
Mk32 triple launcher by 324 mm
Selenia IPN10,

Primary role of this ship is ASW missions in East Mediterranean.
P.S I compared this plan with the Garibaldi from the archive and seems to be adequate in scale, so she will come in real sb-scale.
