Neither was I until a few days ago. While I find the intended assault role somewhat dubious, it could have been a fairly cheap 105mm SPG.
(The M113 was designed as a battle taxi, a job it does reasonably well, but it simply doesn't have the armour for the assault role)

I had to google that assault howitzer. Interesting design. Looks like it would need slat armor and NERA to make it a little survivable.

Well if you need it to breach a position fortified with only small arms, not a problem, also would have made a good infantry support artillery piece
