Majhost is still down and I'm going through posting withdrawal and jonesing bad so I went to Photobucket.

Here is HMS Renown as build in 1916:



The ship's boats color has been changed to blue. "Bezo" informed me that that shade of blue was infact the color used for renown's boats.

Hood, what else does she need?

Looking very good.

I only have three comments.
You have an odd bit of ladder that's not aligned on B turret barbette.

The little gun you have amidships should be a 3in HA gun. I've revised the current one on the parts sheet for my Royal Oak and Revenge 1916 drawings. I will send it to you at the weekend/ upload the new sheet (whichever is quicker!).

One tiny detail I only just noticed, based on my work with the Royal Sovereign Class, on the plan Monty posted there is a saluting gun near the boiler room vents aft of the forward funnel (where the tube meets the deck). There were four (2 each beam) such guns on the Revenges at that position (they were moved forward nearer the conning tower later on), it seems from the picture that Renown only has two (1 each beam). I have drawn one for the Revenges (you can see them on Royal Oak, but the railing obscures most of them due to their small size!). I'll send you the gun along with the 3in HA.

It looked for all the world like a gun, but I missinterperated the saluting gun to be some valve assembly since all of the other open mounts are behind shields.

The little gun midships is a 3" HA, But I put a shield on it since my reference drawing had one.

I fixed the ladder on "B"turret . . . Don'tknow how it got screwed up.

Are you sure the 3in HA had a shield? As far as I know no 3in HA (or 4in for that matter) mount ever had a shield at this stage aboard capital ships or cruisers. I'm looking at a plan of Renown in 1917 at the moment, and it has no shield on the 3in. If you have any photo evidence I'd be interested to see it.

David removes the 3"/HA amidship-shield
(at the same time, your 3'/HA with 1 pixel wide is wrong, your 3"HA need to have a 2 pixel-wide-barrel (SB-rules))

The guns on Renown's forward shelter deck were 4" low-angle mountings with shields. Those abreast the second funnel were 3" high-angle mountings without shields. By 1926 all were replaced by 4" high-angle mountings without shields.

David, you need to fix Renown's sheerline. The forefunnel should be 6 ft (12 pixels) higher than the aft funnel. She was originally completed with funnels of equal height but the fore funnel was soon raised by 6 ft. There were catwalks between the searchlight platforms on the aft funnel. Perhaps you also ought to lose the second curviature line at the stem and replace the double railings with the correct triple railings.

Otherwise, it's a darn nice drawing.
