Falcón Class Light Cruiser
The Falcón class was intended for use as a scout for the commerce raiding squadrons envisioned by the Venezuelan Navy. The ships design process started in 1928; the ships were intended for long-range commerce raiding complementing the Barcelona class Heavy cruisers. they were also built because of the need for vessels that could protect carriers, battleships and convoys from air attacks and also to hunt down and eliminate enemy destroyers that could pose a threat to venezuelan submarines.
