During the 1930's many 'Banana-boats' were twin engined and these were considered rare. The Fyffes company had many ships with two propellers, and the 'Hansa' ships were also sometimes, in British literature at least, were considered as 'Banana Boats'.

Wasn't my point either. Just wanted to put in an interesting historical tidbit.
Supposedly they were fast enough to outrun most conventional warships. That must have been galling.

Perhaps interesting to know that the 'Hohenfels' was scuttled in 1941 at Bandar Shapur by its crew and salvaged by the British. They used it then until 1944 as Military Transport 'Empire Kamal'. In 1944 it was trasferred to the Dutch and used until 1947 by KNSM as 'Van Ruidael'. In 1947 it was sold to VNS who used it as 'Ridderkerk'. In 1962 the ship was scrapped.
