Time for the National Guard (Guardia Nazionale)!!!
His duty is the protection of the Homeland, the second line duty for the Armed Forces and the Emergency Relief in the motherland and abroad.
For the Homeland protection the National Guard can use a variety of military equipment, principally surplus of the Army and brand new vehicles and equipment.
The National Guard, as said, is responsible of the Military Engineering for the Armed Forces and logistic support in the background.
In the role of Emergency Relief the National Guard fulfills the role of Civil Protection, in coordination with the Fire Dept. (Vigli del Fuoco), the Gendarmeria and the Civil Guard (Guardia Civile), using its heavy duty equipment.
Obviously the main truck used by the National Guard is the Astro Family, but not with the All-Wheels-Drive, so in the 4x2/6x4/8x4/10x4 version same engines and chassis of the other Armed Forces versions.
The Centauro is the main armed vehicle of the National Guard, the two versions use different turrets, the first one use a 105mm and the second one use a 120mm with more effectiveness on armored targets.
Thanks to its "light" weight, and its great maneuverability (3 axis steering system, the 2 in the front and the last one in the back) is perfect for move in the country of Caribia, as near or in the cities.
The M-113 Drago is used as main APC in the National Guard, coming from the surplus of the Army, serves also in heavy armed models such as the mortar carrier with a 120mm mortar and the tank hunter with the new Spike LR instead of the TOW-2.
The Ducato is used as utility vehicle, principally in the motherland.
The Massif Family is the back-bone of the National Guard, there are 3 main models, the 4x4 Short, the 4x4 Long and the 6x6 as the Lince family.
The Puma Family is the basic fighting vehicle of the National Guard, as the Drago it comes from the Army surplus, being replaced in the first line by the Lince. There are also very specific versions such as the FSV and RV.
UPDATE!!! The Engineers equipment as been moved into an other post at page 2!!!
PS there will be some corrections in the Army post...
