Hi all

With the football/soccer world cup happening right now I thought it would be an interesting exercise to have many of the AU nations on the forum compete for a Shipbucket world cup. So now for your viewing pleasure, teams from across the many AU nations on the Shipbucket forum will battle it out for glory and bragging rights.

The competition will be conducted with dice – so any team can win based on luck – and for transparency I’ve included below the rules and system I’ll be following to determine the results:
2 halves, each team has 15 offensive rolls of the dice per period. Home team always starts, alternate the dice rolls between the teams.

Offensive rolls: two dice.
2 +1 shots on goal and a chance at goal
3 +1 corner kick on goal (shot on goal stat)
4 Foul
5 Issue
6 +1 shots on goal and a chance at goal
7 Foul
8 +1 shots on goal
9 Issue
10 Opposition corner kick (shot on goal stat)
11 Foul
12 +1 shots on goal and a chance at a goal

Defensive roll: one die.
When the other team rolls a chance at a goal, you get a chance to make a save. You need to roll a 1 through 4 to save or a 6 to get an offside – a 5 results in a goal.

Issue roll: one die.
When the offensive team rolls a 5 or a 9, roll again to determine what the issue is.
1 Yellow Card (two yellow cards in a row result in a red)
2 Foul
3 Opposition corner kick, opposition chance at goal
4 Foul
5 Offside
6 Foul

Penalty kick (on a penalty, defender must roll a 1 or a 6 to save)

No ties allowed in the finals, to break a tie:
Play 4 dice rolls for each team as sudden death overtime – first goal wins,
If still tied, go to a shootout – teams alternate shooting so each team shoots 5 times (penalty kick rules apply here),
If the score is still tied after the shootout – sudden death shootout, if one team scores and the other fails, they win.

The teams representing their respective AU nations competing in the cup are:

The teams are listed below in their groups. This will play out just as the real world cup in the group stage with each team playing the other three teams once, and the top sixteen teams (ranked by points first; with goal difference, goals for, and goals against respectively acting as tie-breakers) making it into the Round of 16. From here any team that loses a match (there will be no ties) will be eliminated from the competition via the quarter-finals, semi-finals until the top two teams compete in the grand final for the cup. This table will be updated with each new result release.

Each day I’ll be releasing the results of between 6 and 8 games (2 games each from groups 1-4 one day and 2 each from groups 5-7 every other day). This post will be updated with the elimination finals table when the group stage is complete.

Enjoy the competition and may the best team win!

Rowdy36,

As The Democratic Commonwealth of the Falklands is Immensely proud of its British Heritage (and as the Brits invented Football) I'd love to submit a team from the Falklands to participate in your World Cup competition.
