was an real proposal, hence why it is in the parts sheets (although I cannot remember where exactly it was posted on the forums)

I have a few remarks, questions and praises
first of all, I'd like to see the STIR fitted version too. note that with STIR 180 this ship would not have been able to handle the SM-2...... but I am not certain she can with SEAFAR. with STIR 240 and an SPS-49 she is able though, that is for certain, giving her the capabilities of an modernised perry.

keep in mind that your hangar, without the aft VLS, will be larger then that of the real life burkes. if you would not require that space, I would recommend it be used to bring the TT's a deck lower and give them reloads, so the ships ASW capabilities increase (also similar to perry, if she has an towed array that is)

in effect, DDV-1 is very much an perry powerplant in an burke hull, and was always meant to be the low end study. in speed and acceleration your ship is going to suffer compared to burkes, but on the other hand the range will go up and the price go down. the hangar brings her abilities up, and so does the SM-2 (if you can indeed field it) but it is still very much an frigate in an destroyer hull. she looks a bit bow heavy, but less then the actual DDV-1.

all in all, to me, it looks like an realistic and capable ship.

• Re: STIR 180 and SM-2, that I am aware of, they would have been fitted out to an austere capability with just a Mk29 on a plate over the area the Mk41 was to be fitted into.
• Re: CEAFAR/CEAMOUNT, I thought the whole point of the pair was that they were scalable to other platforms than the ANZACs that only employ ESSM, as such I'd have thought the illuminators would have been enlarged and use more powerful transmitters? (Hence the larger faces on the tower compared to the existing CEAMOUNT faces)
• Re: Powerplant, could that not be at least slightly aleviated with the introduction of better gearing and higher output LM2500s? Namely the +G4 compared to the original ones?
• Re: Hangar and torpedos, Considering the aft engine/machine space doesn't *appear* to be as heavily engaged as a fully engined vessel could the tubes not come down below main deck level to the same height as the heli-pad and feed from shared stores that way?

so the ship would have been an true fitted for but not with vessel? she seems to be huge for an vessel designed with no VLS at all.
while the powerplant would indeed be slightly eliviated, it would not double or increase 50% of the output IIRC. (should look that up but no time at the moment) and that would be what would be required to get it near burke level of prestations.
of course there are other options with that TT's, but if your hangar is oversized this is an quite easy one, that is what I meant with that

Correct, perhaps a path I could go down that I hadn't considered is maybe outfit them with a Mk.48 solution as opposed to the Mk.29s, would mean I could utilize some of the excess hangar space with an aft placed Mk.48 then fit the Mk.41 into its void when they get the refit that they deserve.

Abstract:
The A class aircraft carriers are the largest surface combatants in use in Galenic navy. They are replacements for the preceding 'Z' Class of carriers (Improved Forrestal / JFK) built between 1960 and1965) - (TGL Zealous, Zephyr, Zodiac and Zulu).
Compared to their predecessors they have much reduced manning requirements but as would be expected from the disparity in size they also however embark fewer aircraft than them. They do however fulfil a whole gamut of roles other than the traditional carrier role. They have extensive command and medical facilities allowing them to as needed serve as amphibious flagships. They can if the need arises also be converted into commando carriers as the preceding 'Y' class were.
They are expected to be in service until around 2050 if not longer.

Very nice drawing indeed, even if I know nothing about modern ships.
That yellow crane on deck for some reason I find rather amusing, standing out amongst all the greys and blues.

First of all. I've updated the CVG in the previous post relative to research into.... Things...

Secondly, something I've been toying about with for part of something else.



Based off of the existing Enforcer 17000 LHD "Prince Edward" an LPH of aforementioned Enforcer with the following modifications.

• Well dock deleted and replaced with extra tankage, berthing and specialist facilities
• Superstructure modified to accept a pair of Millennium CIWS, SATCOM tower and a pair of Centurion decoy launchers
• Main mast modified for new sensor fit

In keeping with the AU to which it belongs I've tried to keep US systems either absent or to a minimum.
The vessel in service is unique being supported by an Enforcer 17000 LPD (Johan de Witt) and three (usually one) JSS (Karel Doorman)

At some point there will be more to come. Right now I'm concentrating on other things.
