These destroyers are a interim AAW Destroyer to replace old Kimons waiting for the indigenous Mk244LVS (cold launch) and the M421 phased array radar system.

Forgot to say that RHN still operates the Miltiades Class Helicopters Cruisers, which are also steam powered (share propulsion with the old Kimons). Their future is uncertain, but the 185km range of their SAM system and capacity of 4 AS332F helicopters are reasons to keep them in service.

-Last DDG Kimon I decommissioned in March 2014.
-Note that HLK participated in the Aster program but withdrawn due to rising cost in 2003 and develop its own SAM system based on SM-2 frame. The resulting SAM-75A Adis VI guided from the APAR like SM-2 Block IIA.
I seriously doubt building your own SAM will be cheaper than being in a multilateral program, but that's just me.

But you REALLY don't have the room for a 64 cell VLS upfront:

KDX-II has one 32-cell MK41 and one 24 cell (for the K-Asroc). I think it can have two 32cell modules mouthed transversely.

The SAM-75 is a reverse engineered SM2-MR with a local developed booster and the electronic unit for guidance by the APAR, is not a full indigenous program.

Complement number is the same with KDX-II.

then you must have an mighty beamy ship! in the bow. aka. the foot of the VLS would come out of the hull, thus no space for the support holding the VLs in place.

I doubt that. I see no problem with the setup he has now, looking at KDX-II.

HLK and European Military Programs

-Ariane/ESA Space Program: 2,2% (mostly satellite instruments and various small parts). Hellenic Kingdom is member of ESA since 1977.

-Eurofighter : 1984-1991. In early 1990's plans were for 120 airframes/6 squadrons, later due the continuously rising cost this number cut to 40 airframes for 2 squadrons only and therefore cancelled completely. The result was the order of the Rafale-E(H) later. Note that the Mirage 2000 program was independent from the Eurofighter, which would replace the F-4E. Latter modernized in early 1990's for soldiered on until the Eurofighter arrived. I will revise my timeline to have the Rafale-E(H) in service and no operational F-4E now.

-FLA/A400M: 1984-1997: Another withdrawn, due to rising cost. Plans were to replace C-130E/H, but finally RHAF C-130E/H modernized to -M spec with all -J modifications except engines (these uprated to T56-A425 spec, 4910hp-also in P-3M). Hellenic Aerospace industry alone participated to C-130J program from the beginning. Reason was mostly cost.

-Eurocopter Tiger: HLK went into this program in 1993 and finally has Tiger in service. Apache was not even considered, due to other armed helicopters in service.

-TRIGAT missile: 1985-1998. Withdrawn, but experience lead to indigenous designs.

-Eurocopter: Participate mostly to EC-135 and Super Puma/Cougar/Caracal project. EC-135 is service with Police Forces and as Ambulance helicopter, other types are in service with Coast Guard,Navy,Army,Air Force.

-Airbus: Participated from the beginning (6.5% of various parts)

Polyphem: 1994-2003. Experience again lead to indigenous optic fibre missiles, of which two designs are being tested.

-Advanced Amphibious Aircraft: Participation in this program decided due to the need of replacing the obsolete hydroplane R-266. After cancelled, HLK purchased the whole program and continued development alone. Finally, this hydroplane appeared in 1998 and received full certification in 2003. 72 airframes already are in passenger service, next variant on development is the fire bomber. Note that I have found blueprints to make it in FD-scale.

-SOSTAR-X radar : Hellenic Kingdom also participated in this project. After its cancelation, project was purhased and led to an indigenous design, the M281A, which will be tested under and AC-122 in 2015.

64 cell!

I'm not going to argue, but all pictures and models I have seen show it to have only 48 cell, while Wiki state: Mk 41 32 cell and a K-VLS 24 cell. where the Mk-41 is mounted the other way around of what he wanted to mount it.

But then the Navy's are know for they're tight fits!

while it is an tight fit, it should be possible to have some additional sets of Mk 41 next to the ones on this pic (the empty space here is reserved for K-VLS)
the block seems a bit offset though, being not entirely on the centerline, so maybe the limit would be 48 cells, but there is not much stopping you from making the deckhouse slightly wider then it is now, and fitting the 64 cell.
the ship is said to be spacious enough to have an 56 cell Mk 41 over there..... I have not yet found the reason why it is 56 and nog 64.

Ok, then seem to fit.

Another question: could I use the double Mk32 tubes from S-Class frigate? It would be curious to return back to external TT after several ships of internal ones (Miltiades,Lysander,Salamis,Elli Classes). If yes, where?
