So, I thought of modify
Stettin and
Stuttgart to show them in the Battle of Jutland, but then all the good things came together...
-Oh hey, here's a high-res picture I haven't seen before...
-I might as well change the hull color...
-Hmm, these details don't look right, what was I thinking?
-And now my drawing program decided to suddenly
not work anymore...
So, after a family-sized dose of insanity pills and a lot of fiddling around, here are the new versions:
Königsberg after comissioning in 1907:
In the fleet's Scouting Forces in 1908. This version is new with white funnel stripes.
And at the beginning of the ar in 1914:
Second ship
Stettin in 1908 sd psrt of the Scouting forces:
In 1912 she and SMS
Moltke and SMS
Bremen visited the United States, so we have a lot of canvas for crew comfort.
And in 1916 during the Battle of Jutland, flagship of the IV. Scouting group:
Third ship
Nürnberg... This one had been a pain mostly for the Coat of Arms. So the city of Nürnberg has not one, but
two Coat of Arms (historical reasons, go figure...). One is the golden eagle/angel on blue, the other one is the black eagle with the stripes. So when I first drew the cruiser back then it had been a really pain to find any photographic reference which showed which of the two Coat of Arms had been used. So naturally I was relieved when I found a clear photo showing the eagle and stripes combination clearly on the port side if the bow.
Naturally, when I was done and the picture had been uploaded, I found another photograph showing the starboard side of the bow with the golden angel. This has been nagging me for a while and since I was updating the ships anyways, here's
Nürnberg with her two Coat of Arms:
Fourth ship is
Stuttgart, here in 1912:
And in 1916 during the battle of Jutland:
And the 1918 version as seaplane carrier:
