not to be nit-picky, but is there a 12 Squadron? i notice your numbering omits that one.....
12th Balloon Squadron was de-activated to provide personnel for 20th Training Squadron. It was the only barrage balloon squadron in service. I just haven't reactivated it.
How's our navy organised? Does it have the same bureau system as the Yankee-navy? (BuOrd, BuNav etc...)
Naval organization is a bit nebulous. I'm an Army Officer so I have to avoid the temptation to do it the way the Army would do it. It generally follows US Navy practice. I'll post an organizational diagram at some point, but I'd rather focus on the operational forces.
Are there internal AA elements within the Army, or are all AA units controlled by the Air Force?
Also how does the size of the Texas army compare with those of the other non-belligerents as of 1940?
The Army has point air defense assets in the tactical maneuver units and coast defense sites. The Air Force maintains air defense assets for airfields, but will expand that role during the war to protect critical infrastructure and high value targets.
Compared with the other non-belligerents as of 1940? We are much smaller. My next post will be the top five strategic projects for each service in 1942 (it'll give you a clue as to where things will head during the war.) Airborne units are one of the five for the Army.
