It looks perfect to me.

If you've got the sources to confirm the colour then use it. As folks have said, why waste so much time over every detail on the topsides if you ignore the other 50% of the hull?
As to kitbashers, point me to any recent decent kitbash of a current ship (exempting the IJN AU thread). Most have serious issues without even looking at the shades of the paint! I agree that a competent artist should find no problem kitbashing other peoples work (though some of the radical splinter schemes make that more difficult).

Thanks for your coments, I`m sorry if I caused problems!

It wasn`t my intention to break the rules, as I didn`t even know there was a rule to use FF0000 as hull colour.
I must admit, that I simply copied the colours from a different drawing, when I first startet to draw in SB-style...

While I understand that there is a need for uniformity when drawing SB-style, I also think that we should strive to depict the ships as historically accurate as possible.

At the moment I am updating some of my drawings and now I`m unsure what to do.
Should I keep the "standard red" or use the more historically correct "rust red"?

@Maomatic
I'd say: don't stop what You're doing (because it's a great work), and regarding the red: use the historically correct "rust red". I think that by now the "standard red" has become more of "default color, if there's no better idea" rather than "real standard".

With that new shade for the underwater hull, I think the forthcoming drawings of Tirpitz are going to look even more epic!

Alright, so I went ahead and updated my drawings including the "Deutschland"-and "Scharnhorst"-classes.
See page 6 for the changes I`ve made to the "Bismarck".

I hope it`s ok that way, if not, I`m able to change them again!

Regards!

I will do so asap! :-)

Here is my first drawing of the "Tirpitz", the second ship of the Bismarck-class.

The drawing depicts her in late February 1941 during her final fitting out and commissioning.

More versions will follow, but they might take a while...

Thanks for looking!

Beautiful :!: It creates some happy memories of my boy hood where I build that particular vessel as a model ship ;)
