You have done a very commendable job on the Showboat.

There are, however, two things with the series that seem to be just a little off.

1.) All of the drawings have a short, one pixel thick black line just off the bow and stern. Was that meant to represent the normal waterline on the original work in progress?

2.) This concerns the 1942-44 versions only. I know the photos make it difficult to be certain, but I believe that the open bridge above the pilothouse may need a small revision. In 1942, the entire shield across the open bridge, including the former rangefinder platform, was a single, constant height - it wasn't even fitted with wind deflectors. In 1943, wind deflectors were fitted to the forward end of the open bridge over the pilothouse - but not the former rangefinder platform at its forward end. So the shield on the former rangefinder platform should be the same height as the rest of the open bridge shielding where the wind deflectors aren't mounted. From 1945 on, the open bridge looks just the way you have drawn it.

I'm sure you'll do just as well on Washington.

Excellent catch re: the wind deflector above the pilot house. I had made a mental note early on during the research process that that area had likely changed, but lost track of it during the drawing... will correct that shortly. I should point out that photos of the ship in 1943 (while painted in the early Ms 32/18D pattern) very clearly show the open bridge in its "current" state - so the shield should look as it does from probably 9/1943 onward. I will revise the height of the rangefinder platform shield as I believe I just incorrectly drew it the first time around - I see now it should be at least one pixel lower than it currently is.

The 1942 photos clearly show the 'constant height' shield as you have pointed out - will correct that ASAP.

My suspicion (though I can't confirm this, and doubt anyone really can) is that the original 20mm Oerlikon replacing the Mk.35 single-purpose rangefinder mounted atop the pilot house was deleted during the ship's November 1942 Pearl Harbor refit (the same refit that removed all of the .50-caliber machine guns). I imagine that's also when the pelorus was added at that position as well, but (as always) exact confirmation is difficult.

Re: the short one pixel black line, I've kept those as indicators of the DWL given the thick boot topping. I don't think they detract from the drawing, but on second thought it's not exactly "standard" so will remove them eventually.

Thanks for your detailed criticism; we need more people who are knowledgeable of this sort of thing. AA and radar fit changes are relatively easy to spot in comparison. These are the sort of details I slave over for these drawings - glad to have a second pair of eyes look at the drawing with the same eye for detail.
