Now I have made several changes of details, I have added a lot of new details and change my LCVP Mk. 5. The latter I'm unhappy with, but it seems that the concept of LCVP's should have a certain look here in Shipbucket :? Never mind! Though the proportions aren't right, so I have to change the davits, and they certain not looks like the LCVP's on Bulwark, so let it be
I hope you all like the drawing now and the shading I think it's called the new shading :D

The problem, as I see it, is that all in this discussion now focus on this particular photo (above). I haven't used this photo to made the most of my draft of HMS Bulwark! The only reason this photo is good for the drawing purpose is, that is possible to get a look into the gaps at the superstructure. Because the angle is a bit from front it's also tricking. You can see things and details you would not see in the direct angle, and something you can see in the direct angle you can't see here. For example the shaping of the rear!
And this REVERSED image, she can help you finish the ship (especially the Scale/proportions of superstructures, general appareance/form)

The other image I posted earlier, it can help you with the details of the superstructure

It's a very good photo of HMS Bulwark, but it show it from the port side (inverted) where the details are different from starboard side. I'll check if the rear gap looks alike on starboard. If, I'll correct it ;) But all in all, I think my drawing is fair to the starboard side :D

You can still add the chaff launchers and their ready use boxes on tje bridge deck abreast the forward mast.

It is looking very good :) , but some things you'll still need to change. You are showing too much shade under overhangs three or four pixels is excessive - please check the guidelines. No need to 'step' the waterline, it should be straight. The 'lantern' on the mainmast seems to be glowing? That is, you are showing blue outside the black line, please remove this.

Some times it's hard to recognise some details if you look at a picture that seem to be viewed 100% sideways. The photo above isn't :!:
I've attached three photos in various angles to emphasize the details about the rear end ;)

Huh :o I can see it's a hard task I've begun  I have thought I should do my best to make the ship look as close to the real ship as possible. I've now learned that I have to make a lot of compromises. You think the 'lantern' (which I reckon is some electronic sensor) is glowing. But if I make a black outerline it will be clumpsy and look wrong. If I remove the 'glow' it will look wrong too. What's the solution?
The waterline should be straight, but in all the photos (where you can see it) it always is thinner at the rear. Compare to the flight deck which go opposite! I think it's a dilemma. If I make the waterline straight, I will think you will dislike the flight deck being to slanting! :?:
How much compromise should I do?

I appreciate you want to get this right; and while not wanting to 'nit pick' its just a question of keeping to the Shipbucket standards where they apply.

Re the 'lantern' (sorry folks for the non tech here); you are showing blue shading outside the black frame, so just remove the blue.

Shipbucket standard - straight waterline, as you'll see on other drawings, especially where the full hull is shown.

Shading under overhangs; just one pixel width is required.

The idea is to provide a uniform Shipbucket standard, so we all have to conform to these. It will assist you to have a good look at other artists work that is being posted, and of course, a good read through of the guidelines. That said, you are doing a stirling job on the Albion. :)

Actually for the shading underneath overhang allows some what stylistic differences, but Not in way that using the darkest grey in multible pixel width.

Otherwise PB speaks the truth

Keep on Shipmate!
This is a damn fine effort for a first ship. We tend to be heavy on enforcing the rules but one day you'll do it without a second thought. Working with photos is always tricky when your trying to gauge shapes and measurements. Don't fall into the trap of reversing a photo though, many ships have different details on each side!

This is going to be great when its finished.
