o well will have to redo then :( (and not sure what happens to the rolling without the belt/turret etc ?).
Well, IJN Hiei did land a funnel, a turret and side armor in order to operate as a training ship and avoid to be scrapped.

please keep pointing out any other stuff I need to change (and I have no idea about radars so just copied a set off Hoods HMS Malaya 45 do tell if I need to change ! may need to change rear mast to raise it up.)
I believe you can land the aircraft facilities as it was done on most RN battleship during the second-half of WWII.

Nice work anyway!

Yes (I do need to engage my brain, but was thinking 41+ then started 45 at same time  :( )
So will swap with a 40mm.
AND thanks for adding to the confusion   will just keep my joined up funnel.

Thanks JSB

BB1987, you're right, she DID land a funnel, but that was the foremost one. The Japanese trunked the first and second funnels together at the base. This is one way to do it, of course. What JSB did was removing BOTH formost funnels, a practice I, at least, would not recommend. However, a configuration similar to the Hiei, I can definitely accept. That would be viable.

apdsmith, I've read that too, and only adds another reason to try and keep, at least two (one trunked and one single). Excellent catch!

So my war rebuild is ok with a trunked funnel ?
If so does it matter for the T/Ship as it will have a silly weight distribution anyway (and may use ballast etc). [edit for apdsmith can I not add my weight high (on top deck) or low (boiler rooms) to make it work, as I have tons! of space/spare capacity with no belt/turret ?]

JSB

Ps does anybody who understands directors wish to tell me what I need to have ?

So far I have :

1933- 1 Main (cheap old type kept) + 1 HACS (save cost with just 1, T/S doesn't need back up)
1939- 1 Main + 2 HACS
1945- 1 Main (with radar) + 2 HACS (with radar) + ? (do I need 40mm directors etc what type ?) + what radar fit (need Air+ Surface I have 2 are they right ?)

Hi JSB,

Ballast may in fact make it worse - the funnels were used to make the ship less stable, not more. That said, as you've stated, with all the bits that get removed to make it a training ship, I've no idea whether the CoG goes up or down or forward or aft, so it might make it better, might make it worse. I'm afraid you'd have to rely on one of the more engineering-types here to clarify that, as I'm simply not able.

Regards,
Adam

fixed a few things (shading + no aircraft + added 40mm + STD for 40mm)

JSB

Should I add more AA ( thinking 2 more 4 inch near rear most, would limit 13.5 arcs of stern turrets but by 43-45 this isn't a problem as Tiger will just be a fast AA ship for carriers ?) or would this weigh to much ?maybe running out of displacement for stuff high up bye 45 with radars etc.
Should I redo them all on different templates ?

JSB, since you are determined to proceed with an intermediate rebuild, all I can say is carry on with what you're doing. She looks just fine for what you have in mind.

I'm not determined and part of me would love to draw Queen Ann's and 4.5's, but in a RN with unmodified QE's and HOOD :( I don't really think Tiger will get such nice treatment.
Just for you my take on a QE rebuild on Tiger (WIP -Kitbashed Hood's 42 QE and Tiger ).

Fun but I don't really think it would have a chance in hell of HMT paying for it ;)
