Swiss Army Uniforms

In the swiss army there are only four typs of uniforms:
- Dress A (Dress Uniform)
- Dress B (Service Uniform)
- Dress C (Combat Uniform)
- Dress D (Working Coverall)

The Dress B und Dress C are basically the same, but the Dress B clothing is generally not worn on the field. The headgear for Dress B is the beret in the corps colour, for the Dress C the Field Cap and the Helmet. There are two typs of jackets: Camouflage jacket and cold weather protection jacket. The latter is worn upon the other. In colder times, the cold weather protection jacket can also be worn over the tunic of Dress A. Only crews of armoured vehicels wear instead of the camouflage jacket and trousers, a combat coverall and instead of the field cap a black beret.

There is a rain coat for Dress A (which is hardly ever worn - I never used it during more than 1'000 days I served) and a rain jacket/coat, rain trousers and a rain hat for Dress C. There is now a goretex rain jacket for Dress C, which is in my battalion also worn to Dress A und Dress B, although it is offically not a correct uniform.

The Dress D is a working coverall for maintenance or cleaning work. Many troops never get it , I think it is now manly used by troops working with heavy machines, such as tanks or engineer vehicles.
