klagldsf hi a few points of explanation.

1.) Put in a clause in the LNT that lets you keep it
I cant see why you cant swap her for Iron Duke. after all japan kept a Knogo class in the same category.

The Japanese massively reconstructed the Kongos to turn them into 30+ knot battleships

swap a Revenge for Tiger
Yes I would (with hindsight) but NO we don't need to we are swapping for Iron Duke.

It wasn't worth sacrificing better and newer ships (particularly those still in the pipeline, i.e. the KGVs) to keep a WWI battlecruiser around
agreed that's why it wasn't done until to late but money was wasted on other things less implausible than a cheap tiger rebuild.

Thanks JSB

Only one small (or major thing...) I realize that as a TS she has a reduced number of boilers, but to me, to remove the two forefunnels and then, when reactivating her for front-line service, restore those funnels, albeit in a trunked configuration. This is not to say that I disapprove of the trunked version. In fact it's pretty cool! But that's also why I think you should retain the three funnels in your TS configuration! You can always close-off smoke ducts and cover the smokestack, if not in use!

Yes I agree, but back in the thread (before all the deletions) people said I would have to remove at least one (unless I misunderstood :? ) so I removed them (kind of think it makes it more interesting and less perfect so I think I will keep unless strong objections ?).

Also not sure if I should have Hood in my credits as I cant remember why I added him (I think I added a queen ann's bridge credited him and then later went back and removed it for a more 'tiger' cheaper one) but not sure so haven't taken him off yet :? (how big can a 'part' be ? IE does the aircraft/catapult count (modified from Hood's Royal Oak)? ).

No, Sir. There's absolutely no need to remove - physically - one or several funnels! Mind you, neither the Centurion nor the Iron Duke had any modifications made concerning that, when they served as TSs! Just block off/seal the steampipe lines and fume exhaust trunks and put rain covers on the funnel tops on the funnels not in use!

Hi JSB, bezobrazov,

Plus, from what I understand, having read RP1's comparative study, the funnels in this era are actually used to damp the ship's roll - both in terms of lifting the CoG up and also providing a measure of aerodynamic braking to keep roll rates low.

Regards,
Ad
