well, it seems like you don't need much of that stuff, in the netherlands nuclear waste is normally transfered by trains. special trains, yes, but I don't think there would ever be enough at the same time to justify an entire ship.

The company that owns the above Pacific Nuclear Transport Ltd PNTL ship pic by TJ has 5 in total (2 retired) and there is at least 1 other an Italian vessel so there is need for such vessels, so I think I can get away with one in my AU...

hmmm. point taken.
I am not sure in how much those ships would actually differ from regular cargo ships though, apart from maybe some safety regulations.

Hi,

Don't forget the little deckhouse forward - it's part of the DG complex and has the exhaust on top. I'd also note that the older ships have a grey RiB for use by Large Blokes With Guns, and also IIRC 30mm guns on the superstructure. The latter would limit their ability to enter some ports, however.

Thought about arming her but also thought about that, would the same apply if she just carried armed security? And RiB?

I have a newer drawing with a forward deck house and washing down equipment but still working on her at up the moment.

The RiB is no problem. Armed teams are better as you can offload them - IIRC you have to take the weapons off a merchant ship to go through Suez and Panama canals. I suspect you can have as many LRAD and net projectors as you want, though. TBH, a well designed ship with lots of non-lethal systems and an armed team is probably better protected against piracy than one which spent the money on a couple of 30mm and their endless cleaning rota.

As a waste carrier is only going to operate on fixed routes you can always have negotiated agreements with the relevant port states, too.

Completed Transport ship, i've gone with armed teams and RiB as these can be off loaded prior to transiting Suez or Panama and for any ports restricting arms, although I suspect the ship would operate on fixed paths so agreement would be in place at any visited ports.
