Royal Ayutthaya Navy Aircarft

A-4 Skyhawk

In 1988 Ayutthaya obtained 18 units USN surplus A-4 skyhawk and remanufactured . new radar and avionics, provision for AGM-65 Maverick, AIM-9 Sidewinder, and GBU-16 Paveway II laser-guided bomb.

Ayutthaya Navy plan to use this attack aircraft on the new small CTOL Aircraft carrier Bazan BSAC 220 (with F/A 18 Hornet). but in the final they selected Chakri Naruebet V/STOL Aircarft Carrier. All Skyhawk never touch Aircarft Carrier now and forever

In the Ex Cobra Gold 2003. a skyhawk was down because the engine have problems. next year Ayutthaya select 6 A-4G and 4 TA-4G to upgrade again for training and keeping jet aircarft pilots.

Plan to decommission.

All skyhawks will decommission in 2021-2022. in 2014 Ayutthaya will sign contract to buy 24 TA-50 Golden Eagle advanced trainers and multirole light fighter from South Korean ($25 million per unit). with EL/M-2032 radar, AIM-9 Sidewinder, AIM-120C AMRAAM, AGM-65 Maverick and JDAM

18 units for Ayutthaya Air Force will delivery in 2016-2018. 6 units for the navy delivery in 2019-2020 only the navy version can use AGM-84 Harpoon II. the second batch will come after 2020 but the navy select 6 units FA-50 Multirole combat aircraft ($30+ million per unit). the new squadron will completely in 2024-2025
i need FA-50 pic .please ???? +_+ :(

AV-8B Harrier II

Ayutthaya bought 12 AV-8B and 4 TAV-8B Harrier II Plus in 2000 and cancle 10 F/A-18 Hornet because they chosen V/STOL Aircarft Carrier. In 2014-2015 all aircarft have minor upgrade for install Link16 datalink.

After 2015 Harrier will have AIM-9X Sidewinder,AIM-120C7 AMRAAM and AGM-84 Harpoon II. they can communication with many warships and combat aircrafts from Ayutthaya Air Force. include AEW&C Aircarft ,Air Defense System and Tactical Information Data Link System

The second squadron

United States Marine Corps start plan to decommission all AV-8B Harriers in 2012-2028 and replace with F-35B Lightning II. In 2015-2018 US Marine will transfer 30 Harriers to Ayutthaya Navy. 16 units will upgrade in USA and use for the second squadron (14 units for spare part).

Because F-35B project very very slow this project still pending and very slow too. may be Ayutthaya will obtain10-15 Harrier in 2017-2018 and upgrade some units for use in the current squadron. may be and may be

CH-46E Sea Knight

United States Marine Corps decommission all CH-46E in 2014. 10 units will transfer to Ayutthaya Navy 6 units will upgrade in USA and use for Amphibious warfare operation with LPD Ship (4 units for spare part). include many spare part and training this project have total cost about $25-30 million for 6 medium-lift tandem rotor transport helicopters in service about 15-20 years.

Nice.
As a side note I'd say that just 3 P-3 aircraft for a navy with aircraft carrier (even if supported by CN-235) isn't a big number.

Just in general, operating only a handful of any type is going to impose a really nasty logistics chain, and supporting costs are going to get outlandishly high per unit compared to operating several dozen.

You might be able to get away with this by operating something like P-8 (since surely domestic air carriers operate a whole slew of 737s, getting trained maintenance folks will be less of a headache). There's no way any airline is flying Electras domestically, though.

Uhm, the radar on your ship is actually a Thales MW08, not Variant.
