There's no such thing as "nothing left to draw" If you can down 10 pints and draw, you're doing alright by my standards

A heavy cruiser WIP I've been working on. This depicts the 1942 version. I still have details, shading, and possibly a radar to add but I think she is shaping up pretty well. I still have to consider what to name her and her class but I am open to suggestions. I still also have to figure out the specs a bit more but something along County class armor and speed with an armament of 6x 9.2in. guns, 6 4.7in. guns, 6 4in. guns, as well as 6 pom pom and 6 vickers 12.7 AA mounts is my current setup. It might be a bit much weight or AA, and the 4inch guns aren't in my preferred spot yet, but I wanted to post this for comments and advice.
Special thanks to Blackbuck for the basic drawing and his advice.
Those are 4.5"s aft not 4.7s ;) and considering the 1942 timeframe I'd either go 4.5s or 4s rather than a mix.

One of my drawings used here??? Odd, since I cannot find it! So, I guess I've to rely on PB:s comment of it...

Ah yeah u are correct Blackbuck in my rush to post it overlooked that. While I agree using al 4.5in. or all 4 inch would be prefered, I was thinking that since it was an in war upgrade it would
Be difficult to acquire enough of one or the other to make the battery uniform.

Rodondo I like Aukland a lot, thank you.

Bezobrazov, they were originally modified Brazilian Niteroi class drawings that I had posted that bill was commenting on. I deleted the drawings from the thread a little while ago which is why you cannot find it :P. I can repost or pm them to you if u would like.

That sounds very appealing to The Commonwealth of Zealandia :)

Flag of Zealandia also added to the first post.

It looks good to me, though I'm with Blackbuck on the secondaries - even taking into account problems sourcing enough mounts I would think that an extra ammunition type would complicate things unnecessarily for any difference in combat power. When was it built? If it was built prior to WW2 I'd go with 4in mounts, but if it was built during WW2 then the 4.5in might be a good choice. I'd imagine even in wartime that 4in guns and ammunition would be relatively easy to come by (even if just single mounts), but then again 4.5in guns probably compliment your main battery better (though harder to source in wartime?)
(Also the quad 0.5in mg mounts would probably be due for replacement with 20mm by 1942)

I look forward to seeing it and this AU develop further though, and if the Commonwealth of Zealandia and Independent Federation of Australia ever need a third partner the Commonwealth of Recherche would be happy to oblige :)

It entered service along with its sister late 1938 to early 1939. I was thinking that the prewar 4in. Mk 5s that are fitted to the, yet to be posted, as built version, with the posted secondary armament being the 1941-1942 refit. I will try to play around with some all 4.5in. and all 4in. variations and see how they look.

The Commonwealth of Zealandia thinks such a three way partnership sounds very appealing.

This is the all 4inch secondary version showing 9x 9.2 in. and 10x 4 in.
The 6in. turrets are shown as a possible main armament option of 12x 6in guns.
The crane and catapult are offset so as to reduce the field of fire reduced by them.

I think Defence talks are certainly on the cards for a Joint Agreement between our AU nations.
